Has anyone else who has opened an account received a letter saying that they haven't paid in enough in a calendar month to get the monthly fee refunded?

I've made several transactions totalling over £1500 in October, and I can't see the fee being deducted from my account yet. I haven't yet made transactions over that in November, but November isn't over yet.

Yes, letters received this morning. £1500 paid into our accounts October and November and no fee yet deducted!

This forum is so useful for this kind of stuff! I got the same letter this morning and was like "whaaaa?" thinking maybe I'd sent money to the account of a random stranger by mistake! I checked and I hadn't, but even so, I wasn't looking forward to having to start jumping through hoops over an incorrect £3 fee. Now I can relax, knowing it's a glitch if it's happened to other people too.

They also paid me some interest, despite me having no direct debits, which needless to say I'm much less concerned about! :D

You get a 'by' for the month of opening.

I have the same letter - called them to be told the letter must have been sent in error. The advisor could see I had paid the necessary amount and that I wasn't due to be charged the fee.
  • I also got the same letter this morning about the £3 fee. I checked online and this confirmed that £1500 paid in to account in both October and November. Nevertheless I was panicked into sending another £1500 for this month, which I then transferred out again immediately.

Could have saved time and effort by reading this thread first!

    Letter has been shredded.

myself and OH each received this letter today. these are new club Lloyds accounts opened for the switch incentive, we had previous club Lloyds accounts for years which we have kept as a classic.

account switch 5th Oct. 1500 deposited end Oct and then this week. I did check at the time but can we confirm internal transfers count as "deposited funds"?

I have been sending 1500 to my now classic account, doing a quick transfer in/out of CL account and then back to source. so funds from external account to classic, quick transfer, then back from classic to source.

    thanks.

Hmmm .... I'm encountering the same issue.

Lloyds have written to me to say that I haven't paid in the minimum £1500 to my Club Lloyds account to avoid the £3 fee.

My Club Lloyds account was only opened on 14th Oct 2019 and I transferred £1500 into this from my Classic Lloyds account on the 22nd Oct, and then immediately (within a couple of mins) moved it back out again.

In November I made another "Hokey Cokey" faster payment of £1500 (in and out) of my account this time from an external Non-Lloyds account.

I've checked through all of the T+Cs that I can find for the club account and haven't found anything specifically stating an internal transfer between Lloyds accounts will not meet the deposit requirement.

I've always assumed that if a deposit or transfer is in the account long enough to be recorded onto my statement, then this is sufficient.

Did anybody who received one of their letters today make all of their due payments by a non-internal transfer method?

In light of what's been said by others prior to my post, I'm starting to think that the internal transfers do not meet their requirements.
  • My £1500 payments in both October and November to my new Club Lloyds current account came from my Santander 123 Lite c/account (ie not internal) and I still got the letter today warning me that I hadn't paid enough in to avoid the £3 fee.

    Ditto,for both myself and wife.

yeah I got that letter. £1500 has been in and out twice already (standing orders, 14th Oct and 14th Nov)
and the current balance is £4500. seems they don't know what they are on about!!
