I got a text message yesterday stating that my £125 has been payed in.

Can I now downgrade the account to a regular classic account now or must I keep it as a club account for a while yet?

I had no intention of staying with Lloyds, and only switched for the £125 bonus.
As soon as i knew the switch had completed, I switched that account to my existing Nationwide one.

Extra £125 in the savings this week

Wow that was quick. Only did the application on the evening of the 4th. Got my activation code in post yesterday & £125 deposited today. They put HSBC to shame.
  • I assume it doesn't matter if you complete the switch as part of the Club Lloyds account application, or separately afterwards?

I opened an account yesterday, but clicked No when it asked if I wanted to switch (my mistake).

I've just filled out the form online to switch, so assume this is all fine.

Will keep the account until I receive the switching bonus, then switch over to Barclays for the double reward bonus for switching.

Easy money! Credit rating has probably taken a bit of a hit though.

I haven't been with them a month but I've had an annual statement!

I never called them. I kept getting the letter you got when trying to repeatedly apply so I waited it out a year and then had no problems ever since.

There's also the below letter that they can send if they decide to withdraw existing facilities too:

They also leave this internal note (not sure they should have divulged the internal phone number!):

I understand they don't take a positive view of customers who have regularly opened and switched out accounts with their group, and have a credit reference file showing this pattern of current accounts regularly opened and settled.

It looks like I have to lay off applying to their group/any credit including current accounts for a while .

I had the exactly the same problem yesterday. You should try with Firefox, but you may have to phone Lloyds to cancel your application if it is still open on their system.

Here is what happened to me...
    1. There was no button on the switch page when I tried for the first time (using Safari on a Mac).
    2. So I tried again using Chrome but said I had already applied to open a new account & I had to wait 30 days before I could apply again.
    3. Chat support kept saying to clear my cache & cookies, or use an alternative browser but I had to reiterate that there was a live application on their system that was preventing me from trying again. Eventually they understood & said I would have to phone 0800 015 4000 to ask for the application to be removed.
    4. So I then phoned Lloyds who cancelled the initial application so I could apply again. It required answering stuff I submitted on the application. Lloyds also said they were aware of the issue with the button on the switch page sometimes not being displayed on Safari & Chrome and that I should use Firefox.
    5. 5 mins after the phone call I used Firefox & it worked first time.

Firefox worked perfectly, thank you! luckily I was able to try again the next day
  • I managed to do this switch for me and my hubby after all and switch will complete on Monday. I've checked the t&cs, and as far as I can see, there is nothing to stop me switching straight back out to HSBC for the £175 once the Lloyd's money lands in the account? Am I right? (I know I'll have to set up two DDs to qualify for HSBC).

Yes but you don't have to set up 2 direct debits - it can be 2 standing orders.
  • I've just seen that actually! So I can just set up two SOs to my own account for £1 each or something?

Yes that is correct. It doesn't matter where the money ends up, as long as a standing order has been set up and is moved to HSBC as a part of your switch.
