I believe it also lets you upgrade your existing classic account to a club and still get the £125.
It mentions pay in £1500 a month. I guess I can open the account, make a standing order of £1500 from my Santander to the Club, few days later reverse the standing order so you still get the free cinema tickets and pocket the £125.

Anyone confirm this is ok to do?

    Thanks

The account needs to have been opened after 01Oct19 to be eligible for the bonus, so you might as well just open a new CL account rather than opening a classic and upgrading it. I haven't read anywhere on here of someone getting paid the switch after upgrading a classic account which was opened before this date but I'd be willing to be corrected if someone has done this.

The £1500 is only a requirement to avoid the £3/month account fee - it has no bearing on the switch offer. You can pay in/out as quick as you like - there is no obligation for the money to remain in the account, just that it is deposited in. You could pay it back out immediately if you wanted.
  • Thanks for the PM:money:

I've updated the thread title to 12th November as Lloyds have extended the date by a week since I first opened the thread
    Retired 1st July 2021.
    This is not investment advice.
Your money may go "down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... I got all tricked up and came up to this thing, lookin' so fire hot, a twenty out of ten..."
  • Anyone else having an issue 'confirming' when at the final hurdle with this one?

Getting to page 4 of 5, switch your account and there is no button at the bottom to confirm! It just seems to disappear.

This is using Safari on a Mac. I attempted again on Chrome but it was having none of it (no chance to attempt the process again)....

I had the exactly the same problem yesterday. You should try with Firefox, but you may have to phone Lloyds to cancel your application if it is still open on their system.

Here is what happened to me...
    1. There was no button on the switch page when I tried for the first time (using Safari on a Mac).
    2. So I tried again using Chrome but said I had already applied to open a new account & I had to wait 30 days before I could apply again.
    3. Chat support kept saying to clear my cache & cookies, or use an alternative browser but I had to reiterate that there was a live application on their system that was preventing me from trying again. Eventually they understood & said I would have to phone 0800 015 4000 to ask for the application to be removed.
    4. So I then phoned Lloyds who cancelled the initial application so I could apply again. It required answering stuff I submitted on the application. Lloyds also said they were aware of the issue with the button on the switch page sometimes not being displayed on Safari & Chrome and that I should use Firefox.
    5. 5 mins after the phone call I used Firefox & it worked first time.
  • I got a text message yesterday stating that my £125 has been payed in.

Can I now downgrade the account to a regular classic account now or must I keep it as a club account for a while yet?

AIUI nothing in the T&Cs stops you downgrading it.. but you will immediately lose the attaching lifestyle benefits.

PS If you over 'play the game' it may get noticed.

They've paid you the money so you can take it and run - there is no obligation to keep the account open so you can switch away or downgrade if you so desire. Only thing that will happen is you lose the lifestyle benefits and interest

Most people have been downgrading their existing CL accounts, opening a new CL account for the switch and then downgrading this new account (after the incentive has been paid) and re-upgrading their original account back to CL. You'll lose your lifestyle benefits for a month or so and you'll probably also miss out on interest for a month but that's about it really. I've had no other other issues having done this. Not really any other way around it as far as I can see unless you open a joint account.

I got as far as downgrading my existing CL account, opening the new CL account including switch details and was immediately accepted online. Two days later, I received a text saying my application has been rejected  (as has Mrs Anon's).

I had a few accounts with their group including them, for switching to Santander for the Amazon offer earlier in the year, which may have marked our card :o. Has anyone else experienced this and recovered the situation please? I am waiting for the letter, but assume that will just be a standard/bland we have decided not to accept your application on this occassion and tell me nothing.

Is my issue above what you meant about the implications of playing the game and getting noticed ...

    Thank you

Yes. Have they left your old account operational?

There's much to this story worthy of discussion, so if you want to go into detail, maybe best you start a new thread.

It appears so at the moment (I have transferred some money out since, just to check). I have left it in this thread as I ssupect others may be affected by this.
