Hi, well I survived yet another week. Feat in itself.
Great news for hubby, he went to the interview on Friday for the contract and they offered him the position. Initially 6 months (with a view to extending). So he should start within about a month/6 weeks.
My application for LLoyds is being chased up as we speak, so keep you updated on the job front for me.
Made my mind up though, that once hubby starts this job, if I am not in the bank then I will be resigning and will be looking elsewhere, full time.
So far things starting to look up for 2008. Hope you are all off to a great start.
Back soon. x0 -
thats absolutely brilliant! xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0

Well done on OH getting the contract. Will that mean a big boost to his income?
Ref getting another job. I would suggest you find another job first before resigning. It is always better to have a job to go to, rather than scabbling around for something. The KFC job may be carp, but it is helping,
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

I agree chevalier, I aim to find another job before leaving (if I can hold out that long). Yesterday, they had us on our hands and knees cleaning the grouting in the tiles with a sweetcorn skewer. mmmmmmmmmmm.................
OH has a dilema (but a nice one). Two job offers but both with deadlines and a notice period to give. Have to do some managing to make sure we do not kick ourself in the teeth here.
Lloyds have said that they looked at my CV and thought that I would fit in nicely working for them. However, there are many checks that have to take place. May take around 8 weeks. Then they would contact me for next step. So am thinking that maybe once hubby has had his first pay day then maybe I will start looking around just incase the bank does not materialise.
It will make a huge difference to our income as he will be deemed as a limited company and have to make all our own stoppages for tax, vat etc. But we could easily add to his current salary and still put a good sum into savings.
I will keep you all informed, the wicked witch that is my boss is away for three weeks holiday from Wed so - hopefully things may be a bit easier.
All the best. Take care.

Kimmie - you are such an inspiration - I admire you hugely. I was just thinking about you last night and I bow down to you working not only for KFC but for the Wicked Witch.
Fingers crossed for Lloyds - you deserve it.

thanks honey - hope all is well with you and thank you for your guidance. It took a lot for me to post on this thread, and take the advice, but I appreciate everyones input and support. Its amazing how uplifting it is to post on here your daily experiences and gripes and groans. (have plenty of them).
Have been speaking to herbie about the other issue, and he is advising me on that, so will keep you updated.

Hi all. Hows it all going. Well latest news is hubby has taken job offer in London, as this will be cheaper in fares and nearer and seems to have the better career prospects. starting this early feb.
Have taken bull by the hands to sort out our car situation. Been sharing our daughters car for the last 6 months due to finances. So taken steps to get her a slightly more reliable car (she doesn't know yet). Then once he gets some disposable income we will sort ourself a car out within the next month or so.
Had a bad fall at KFC on Suday. Slipped on the floor with all the water from the sink everywhere. Got a huge bruise on my arms and felt sick all night, with a pulled muscle. So had Monday off sick. Told them I would come back the next day, but could not lift.
Slowly noticed more and more people leaving (another3) and therefore they tend to extend our shifts and give us extra hours. Not what I wanted.
Looking on the bright side though, as thinks definately looking better.
All the best.

have you put ur accident in the acccident book, make sure you go and get it checked out at the gp, also water from the sink does that mean that the sink leaked????? Not just health and safety
With another 3 leaving, I justthink your deserve all the luck in the world and more, youve got the guts to carrying on working there, shows your an inspiration to us all.
Too many people sit on there rear moaning, ........but youve taken the bull by the horns, and if there is any guardian angels out there they should give you saturdays winning lottery numbersxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Thanks mum20ne. On the night of the fall, they could not even find the accident book. When they did the day after, I was told that the trainee manager had filled it in but it had to be signed by myself and the manager ( she is away for three weeks and he never asked me to sign it). It was not a leak, but as there are three huge sinks next to each other, water is constantly on the floor, (unless they remember to put cardboard down). There is also an overflow pipe on ground level, that occassionaly blocks up with all the gunk and goes onto the floor (this cannot be hygienic). I did not bother going to the gp at the time, as my hours have been so erratic that I seem to be either working or sleeping or trying to catch up with everything at home (not enough hours in the day). I am counting my days now, as I plan to hand in my resignation as soon as hubby has done his first month there, so hoping to be out by early March.
I would still say that even with all the crap you have to put up with there, it still has been a great experience. Increased my self esteem and confidence, and as mentioned by OP, given me experience for my CV.
As the for the guardian angels, winning lottery numbers would be much appreciated lol......
However, in the meantime, I will slave away for minimum wage.

Well done on sticking it out at KFC, I worked for 3 months in a shop on min wage but it paid off and they promoted me to supervisor giving me and extra 60p an hour which isnt much but it adds up. I can understand why the people in my local kfc dont seem to care, it doesnt sound great. This might have already been covered elsewhere but if you are feeding 4 adults what are the other 2 contributing, it seems like they are being fed and housed for free?0
