No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

STILL NO LEAKING! But give it a couple of weeks
Been inspired a bit by other threads. Had a look at my student loan and it's below 19k. At my current rate of repaying it'll take another 10 years to get the benefit. Which is annoying because I want to be part time by then so I wouldn't be getting the benefit. So really I will just need to get paid more. Hopefully my sticky situation will be resolved soon and then I can change jobs. Big companies pay more so I guess I'll just have to go to one, there are plenty of them around me.
Also coming from another thread, I looked back in time at my spreadsheets to find out where my money has been going. It is mainly the flat and the car. I can see a couple of times where my savings are sooooo close to my comfort figure (10k) but then they are dashed. Not sure what to prioritise at the moment, paying off mum, upping my investments or just saving. The reason for sticking with savings is my sticky situation but also it's a big birthday for my mum next year and I want to take to New Zealand. I really really want to do this because she's always wanted to go. I've already asked work about it and it's over a year out. Any tips for planning welcome!
Talking of my mum. She's getting symptoms of her kidney thing again. It's supposed to be cured by the medication that she took damnit.
My life has been stressful for two years and I need to help myself with this. I decide on projects, but not one. Like 5 at once and then I'm overwhelmed when actually these are supposed to be fun and calming. So, inspired by the fact I've been cleaning and tidying all day (ish) and the place is still an embarrassment, I've decided that I can only have one project of each type going at a time. One crochet, one fun DIY, one actual DIY, etc.
Talking about fun DIY: this project is nearly done. Just need to keep cleaning the metal until they stop bleeding yuck and then apply wax to protect them.

Tidying continued today, it's still a mess. Honestly, I'm the type of person who doesn't "see" mess until it's so far gone it's a disaster and I think about just setting fire to the whole thing and starting over
Yesterday I managed to take the corner display cabinet upstairs to my bedroom. The doors and shelves are still downstairs. The shelves look like they are finished, I put a few coats of paint on them today but will wait until tomorrow to decide if they are or not. Then need to paint the doors, take them and and reattach. Not going to lie, shouldn't have done the lifting by myself as I'm aching all over. Whoops.
I also have two more fun projects outstanding. One is the paint box which I think is not capable of stain now. The paint is refusing to budge so I think I will paint it again. I would love to go with art deco inspired designs for it but I'm not an artist so I'll look up some ideas and go from there.
The other was to strip this shelf hook thing for the kitchen because it was painted white when I got it. But I think it might just be easier to repaint it. My kitchen is green themed and I have green paint.
I've done my money monthly shuffle. I need to look into savings accounts to try to get the best out of my money. I have my comfort ef plus some, but will need to be careful with money still.
I have around 7% of my retirement goal. Hopefully this will accelerate because I'm a bit disappointed.
I'm not thinking of the trunk as an outstanding project because it just needs cleaning and waxing. It will probably happen this week.
With this tidying thing, I think part of the problem I have is that I haven't decided where everything should go. So it just sits. Any suggestions on how to tackle this would be most welcome!

ooo save for your big trip
Fourteen years ago I was in a grump with OH over some nonsense and I complained to my mum. She told me of my aunty's pending birthday party in Australia to lighten the mood. We were on our way 4 days later. Dragged along my twin sister too. Great memories.

Not sure I could do all of that in one month, I get very attached to things. Maybe I will cut it in half? Ramp up to being a grown up.
Oooh Australia would be awesome!
Tidied again, got my sideboard and nesting tables decluttered. Still lots to do but it's getting to the stage where I don't see it again. I have to see it. I need to keep going!
Also I think my crochet donkey may be wonky..1
