Hi killerpeaty, don't forget about BritishGas for a boiler quote. My friend had a good experience with them, their pricing is very competitive these days and with two years interest free its not a bad deal. Btw I love the 'experiences' you are planning. Yes, everything seems so much more exciting now that we haven't been able to do much for a while. I've got a couple of things to add to my list that I've been putting off but will definitely be on the list this year. Sandy
ps, well done on the mortgage, that's fantastic!

Thanks everyone for the congrats on the mortgage, it's a small step in the right direction!
Feeling a bit shakey at the moment, apologies if I'm talking gibberish or overly dramatic.
I looked at my investments over 2020, I invested personally £1,400 in the year and the funds rose by about £5k (this is on the total investment, not just what I invested in the year). This is very pleasing! Part of this will be from the government due to some of my investments being in a LISA. I anticipate that there will be a fall in the value of my investments when the full impact of covid on business has been revealed.
I am very tempted to just wipe out my 0% credit card. There is no logical reason for this, it's just such a small amount (less than £500) and then I won't have to account for it anymore.
I have started on my jobs list. Just not one of my high priority jobs.Reason for that is because I haven't been feeling good and this is a small job that can be split into smaller jobs so I can stop when needed. It's actually one of my pieces of furniture, looking alright for now! Will need a few more coats of paint yet.

I hope your health improves in 2021! @killerpeaty
Well done on achieving the mortgage milestone!
I had a thought about your professional subscription. If your employer doesn’t reimburse you, you can get tax relief on it! I plan to do that this year as my employer will stop paying for it.4 -

Actually, I have forgotten to put in my sub as an expense, thanks for reminding me! My employer will only cover one of my subs, they used to cover both, which is frustrating as both of my subs amount to less than one of a certain other sub. C'est la vie.
Painting my bedside table has been going well. I need to work out what is causing some discolouration but I have an idea. Once it's done I'll post it on here, I will be a proud little so and so!4 -
Snoooooow! We let the cats out in the snow, expecting hilarity but they were so nonplussed! They came in after a bit a little damp and with a bit of snow on their ears.
I have appointments with two boiler men. Go me.I am absolutely terrified of the cost though.
Going to start working on my bathroom later today, I'm hoping that my back isn't too bad. Working on my mum's dining room table is not fantastic for my grumpy back.4 -
Already met one of the boiler men. I should be getting a quote but I asked for a ballpark figure. £1,800 for a new boiler and an MOT of the general heating system. Which I was relieved with, it is less than I was worried about, so I went crazy and asked him to also quote me for replacing the radiators which are (apart from the bathroom) very old and appear to have leaked in the past.
I did so much painting. today but got very little done to the casual look. My bathroom is weirdly shaped so it took a lot of painting and fiddly, so it took ages, plus I'm painting white over magnolia so it will take a couple of coats to make it a pure white. Fingers crossed I will get it complete soon!4 -
So productive with the painting! @killerpeaty2

Right. So. Me and the boiler are not on speaking terms, I had a man come and fix it but he couldn't get the controls to behave (unknowingly on his part). He turned it on, set the thermostat and told me that I can turn it off with the thermostat however the heating appears to have two settings: Off and Boiling Hot. It's all getting replaced, I don't care! The boiler makes funny noises like knocking, or like its a kettle. It's all very disconcerting so I've decided that it's going and I'm having a nice new one with new radiators for around £2,300 per the quote by the other boilerman.
It was payday on Friday! I will wait until tomorrow or next weekend to sort my money because I'm a month in arrears. This means that I need to set up my spreadsheet for 2021!
More painting has been done, might do a bit more now.
I have seen a very nice dining room table and chairs on facebook for £95. I would love to have it, it has lovely lines, is rectangular and extends to be larger. I also like the chairs. However, I probably shouldn't buy it since I need to rebuild my savings after the boiler and I have a horrible suspicions that my car is not going to last too much longer.
Also, my mum has told me something that delights me. If you google ebay and hospice, you'll get the local hospice shops listing their goods including furniture and clothing. I so miss charity shops, I like looking at the items and deciding if I like that look or design in person without the high prices. This isn't quite the same since it's still online but it's something!4
