Merry christmas MFD!
@South_coast Eating delicious delicious cheese sounds just such a hardship. My heart goes out to you.
Right, going to write out my 2021 goals again...
Health
I spent most of 2020 being ill. I have no intention of repeating that in 2021 so I'm going to annoy my doctor until they open up their secret chest of magic cures for me. Pretty sure that's how things work.
Professional
I would like a new job. Can't say I'm happy in this one and the reaction to the pandemic has not made me happier!
Do a minimum of one hour of CPD each month, this should prevent me having to panic in December again.
Flat
I. Need. To. Move. In! This has been a ridiculously long time!
Get a new boiler. Sounds expensive and upsetting though.
Complete decoration everywhere. I think I will list out the individual items to complete at some point so that I can tick them off more easily.
Complete furniture refinishing. I have three outstanding projects in varying levels of completeness, a console table, a corner display cabinet and a bedside table. I will be adding to this in the year as well.
Finances
I want to save £5,000, I'm not sure if this is possible.
I am currently £300 out of £4,000 to be contributed to my investments by the end of 2021. Not sure why I decided to be so outlandish about that goal but... err will work on it!
Be CC debt free. This should be automatic but I don't want to need to resort to another credit card.
Pay back mum for my sofa.
I need to think about the mortgage, whether I want to plow any more into it this year or wait until I am more settled.
Personal
I miss my friends, I want to see them.
Probably should think about dating again. It's been well over a year since the last boyfriend.
Pick up items to make my life easier. Including a trolley that walks up stairs and support for my back.
Post more on my diary to incentivise me to keep on track.

Secondly - and this might not work for you - we have an ongoing list (spreadsheet) of jobs that need doing around our house/ garden, organised by room/ area. Some are large/ long/ expensive and require professionals and some are tiny and in reality a 20min job max. Our aim is always to get something crossed off each month (ideally more than 1 thing) - but a list written at the end of the year made by walking around each room is a starting point and it's also not a muct-get-it-all-done-in-2021 list - but an ideal wish-list. I will be getting ours updated todayx

That's a brilliant idea! I was just going to write it down but I love a good spreadsheet and this way I won't lose it. I'm going to start it now. Thank you!

I know! I'm the worst. I would like to say it's been because I've been so ill, but I feel like I won't be allowed that excuse for too much longer.
I have been working in it though.
Just found escape to the chateau make do and mend (from back in the summer but I missed it the first time around) and it's so inspiring and lovely to watch. It is making me miss charity shops though, I love finding things in them and uming and awwing then deciding ultimately not to get it.4 -
Hi KP, Happy New Year.
Sorry to hear that you have not been well and hope you are better now.
Good luck with all your goals but you should definitely focus on the move and what you need to do to make that happen.

I will attempt to get into the flat @longway2go , but I can't promise. I have to go at the pace my body dictates unfortunately. I mean there's a good chance I won't be able to cope with living alone, if I can't then I'll come up with a new plan I guess. But I'm feeling pretty confident that I'll manage it this year.
I should have enough cash savings to get a new boiler now though, so will investigate getting a gas safe engineer out again. The last one wasn't interested in giving me a quote, but the next one will I'm sure.5 -
Make sure to get more than one quote, mind, kp

Clearly my last comment was overly dramatic and a compelling reason why I should not comment so close to bedtime. I'm always a bit over the top when I'm tired.
Thank you for the tip greent, I asked a local friend of mine and he gave me two contacts which were recommended to him by his local friends and he actually had a good experience with the one he used. I will email tomorrow because apparently today is not the say to email. By which I mean, I'm being embarrassingly lazy.
Been thinking about things I would like to do in 2021 in terms of experiences, because let's face it having an experience now is more exciting than it was in 2019! I would like to go to an auction, maybe not even buy anything. Just want to go to a real life auction since the closest I've been is homes under the hammer! I also want to go to some carboot sales with my uncle, he loves a good carboot. Last, I want to walk a mile without getting knackered, which will be a work in progress.6 -
