I’m not sure that anyone here will be able to give you the 100% guarantee and reassurance you are seeking.
Do you have an ATOL certificate? What is listed on there? Was it a Thomas Cook Holiday or booked with another Operator via a Thomas Cook retail store?
To your question on hotels and taxis being already paid by TC. Unfortunately if this is a Thomas Cook Holiday it is highly likely that both the hotel and the ground arrangements would NOT be prepaid. TCH would have had credit terms with most land based services and likely not have paid for your hotel/taxi until after your holiday. If TCH fail then those holiday components would likely get cancelled.
I would read through the MSE report which has been updated regularly to better understand what may happen and what steps to take.
I think things may become clearer Late tonight or early Monday.0 -

If you are able to pick your seats on the flights then your flights have been ticketed and paid for.
Not so confident about your hotels as they are paid for after your stay and the transfers i have no idea.
Which tour op have Thomas Cook booked your package with is it Thomas Cook Signature or some one else ie Kuoni, If Only etc.0 -
Supposing they go bust, when would you book a replacement holiday? As soon as it’s announced or should I wait to receive a confirmation by email? It’s a Thomas Cook package holiday so I don’t want to be throwing another 6 grand around until I’m definitely sure we’re not going0

We have booked through My Magic Holiday and fly next Monday 30th September to Orlando. They are part of the Thomas cook group. We are staying in Disney, Universal and have a cruise booked and fly virgin, we also have flights booked through Easy Jet which weren't included in the package, We have Atol protection but paid Cash, what will we actually have to do and claim back if this doesn't go ahead? we have lots of extras booked too0

I have a balance on my credit card for the entire cost of my holiday with Thomas Cook which is due to be paid early next month. I usually pay my card balance in full every month. Will I have to pay for the holiday and then claim it back or leave it on the card. Would I then be liable for any interest in incurs0

So the latest news is that an hotel (Les Orangers) in Hammamet is, basically, holding the holidaymakers hostage until they pay again. I am flying to Hammamet on Friday 27th (not to this particular hotel though), but my question is - what if I don't have enough money in my bank to do this? (NOT that I would agree to do it anyway as the holiday has already been paid in full!!) I have enough for my holiday spends and my rent/bills whilst I am away. That's it.
Surely, the hotelier and security guards are breaking some law by refusing to allow people to leave until they pay again? What rights do we have then?0 -

I'd also worry that they might not agree to check you IN without payment!!!How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 3.34% of current retirement "pot" (as at end August 2023)0 -

Dammit, I never thought about that! So, we MIGHT be able to fly out there, but may NOT be able to check in?!?!?
I read online a short while ago, that anyone who is due to stay at Les Orangers now are being moved to other hotels instead. Here's hoping now that there will be no overbookings at these hotels. And who's to say that more hotels won't also decide to refuse to let folk leave.
My first holiday in 5 years. Last 2 years I've lost both my parents, my very good friend to suicide and also my dog - oh, and my daughter and her family have booked this holiday for my 60th birthday _party_ (the day after we're due to arrive there). :wall:0 -

Breaking some law?! No idea... do you know the laws of Tunisia very well? I don’t. What rights to you have in Tunisia? Again no idea..., I’m pretty sure holding guests hostage in EU countries would be against some regulation or other. But Tunisia?
Anyone who took a holiday to Tunisia in recent times wants their head seeing to. Obviously that’s just my humble opinion. But a holiday to Tunisia with a tour operator well known to be in financial peril. Doesn’t matter how cheap it is. Couldn’t pay me to go!0 -

Thank you for your kind words of support there, bagand96. Just as an FYI - the holiday was booked long before there was even a sniff of trouble with Thomas Cook.0
