BobbleBob, I get a discount from my companys reward website which means I can get 7.5% off a gift voucher, so on the £6500 holiday it works out at just about £500 compared to the £100 I would earn on interest.... now not looking so clever

Have you had any requests from any of the firms handling the cca cases
I also paid in vouchers and am being asked to provide evidence I have suffered financial loss
I can provide the evidence but it going to take me some time to get hold of the requested documentation.
What about honeymooners who received their gift vouchers from individual wedding guests, are the caa/atol seriously going to make them get proof from every guest for each gift card used ?
Im wondering what they call financial loss, if someone else gifted another person a thomas gift card, are they going to argue the financial loss belongs to the person who bought the gift card and not the person it was given too?
Think the CCA need to clarify as its not very transparent at the moment,0 -
My holiday was to start the day they went bust so obviously cancelled. I had paid a total of £2140, of which £1400 was TC compensation vouchers. If I had paid for the holiday in full at time of booking, TC would have refunded the £1400 into my bank when I presented the voucher. As it turns out I paid by 2 DD installments which were reduced each by £700 so I paid a total of £740 plus the £1400 voucher. I am now told that ATOL will not honour voucher refunds so I have lost the £1400. Has anybody suffered the same problem.? ATOL should just refund the value of the holiday regardless of payment method. I have lost a £2140 holiday and got £740 in compensation.0

if vouchers were given for flight delay the consistent advice given was to ask for real money instead0 -
I know but the temptation of a voucher was too great and who expected TC to sink? I was under the impression that the holiday cost would be refunded but I am now wiser so will be more careful next time. I think ATOL should make it clear on your certificate exactly what they cover and don't cover. Won't happen again! If they had sank a day or two later I might have got my holiday after all.0

Well to be fair thats a pretty unique situation i imagine few people will have the fortune to be in.
I think this isn't as unique as you may think, it's very common.
Over £1 million was spent on Thomas Cook E-gift cards just through my employers scheme in the 7 Months prior to them going into administration.
Furthermore it is causing me major problems as Protect Claims are not accepting my Credit Card statement through which I bought my vouchers as evidence of purchase because the CC payment was made into my Company discount scheme account and from there I bought the TC E-gift card, but the third party company who supplied the E-Gift Cards is no longer operating so all I have is the email confirmation of purchase, but this is literally a freetext email that anyone could have typed and not an actual receipt/invoice.
Protect Claims have contacted me 3 times now, requesting exactly the same information each time, so from that I can only deduce that what I'm sending to them (which is all I have and does include the TC receipt) is not adequate proof of purchase.0 -

Checked my bank account yesterday and to my surprise my claim money was there! I wasn't expecting it as I've had to show no proof or anything, even though I paid by E-voucher. It was a very pleasant surprise!
That is really interesting to know, considering what I'm going through, so thank you for posting.

Hi, we were due to go to New York in February with Thomas Cook. We've completed all the forms and sent all the requested information but yesterday we were told they wouldn't refund us as we couldn't prove we'd paid for it!! We provided the invoice which says paid on it but they won't pay as we can't prove that we saved the money!!!! This is despite showing them bank statements with cash withdrawals. Any idea what we can do? Thanks - we can't afford to lose £2500!!!!0

Well another morale to this story is always pay on card, you have a trail then. A cash withdrawal doesn't prove you paid it to TC unfortunately0

Can anyone explain please why the caa / atol are making some customers jump through hoops ,
If we have supplied out thomas cook booking confirmations and Atol certificates , why is it not just a simple case of cross referencing with the internal system to confirm ?
Why do they need proof of bank / credit card statements and even going as far as proving where money came from in some cases if it was cash ?
It's so frustrating, surely they could just cross reference with the internal system,?0
