i wish hsbc would send some sort of acknowledgement that the process is underway. i initially used their form and then followed up with a section 75 claim letter and heard nothing. they said on the phone it would be 7 -14 days which is now passed.
has anyone heard any progress from any banks on a section 75 claim?
background - thomas cook flights paid on credit card, re-booked flights jet2 at a higher cost so using s75 to claim consequential loss0 -
I rang HSBC about the same thing and they said theres thousands of Section 75’s Going through and to be patient. I submitted mine the morning after TC collapsed.0

I was lucky my claim form went through without a hitch. No confirmation email though.
My friends are in a predicament though. They paid by DD installments, but wanted to pay the last payment early so they went into a TC shop and paid the final payment from 3 different Debit Cards which were processed at the same time. They can't work out which of those 3 was the Last payment that the claim form asks for. I suggested they just put the largest of the 3 as the last payment. I also suggested to put the full cost of the holiday as the total amount they are claiming as it isn't clear that their direct debits will be automatically refunded when some of the holiday was paid by other methods.
Have I given the correct advice?0 -
I didn't ask which card the last payment was made on did it? Just the date and method of the last payment0

It asks for the amount paid on the last payment made towards the booking. They are having difficulty determining which of the 3 card payments was the "last" payment as they were all processed in the shop together, and they can't recall in which order.
I'm even starting to doubt I filled in the correct form - according to a news article I just read explaining how to claim, it stated you'll need to enter your name, address, ATOL number, home phone number, mobile phone number, upload receipts, statements etc etc.
The claim form I submitted didn't ask any of that. It only asked for booking reference, lead passenger name, amount being claimed, amount and method paid on the last payment made towards the booking, date paid and date of holiday.0 -

Hi there,
looking for a bit of advice...
So when Thomas Cook went bust i checked my booking and it was with AIRTOURS. My ATOL certificate also said its protected by the following.
Airtours, ATOL no 1179
Therefore i took it my holiday was cancelled and i would be covered by ATOL. However someone has just said to me that the holiday might still be in place. Can anyone on here help please?
I'm happy to call anyone
I have also paid by direct debit and understand that the CAA with automatically pay any money into my account. I've not heard anything and this is adding to my worries as i've already booked up another holiday...
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated...
TIA0 -

i filled in their ridiculous form on the monday and found out they push for chargebacks first so then sent a separate letter claiming under section 75 on the tuesday
could be a while before we hear i guess!0 -

Well the ATOL number 1179 is one of the companies that went under...

As for if the holiday is valid or not, well only you can tell us what is on the original confirmation. If any flights have MT flight numbers then these are gone. As for not hearing anything about DD refunds, they said this would take 14 days and we are only on day 9.0 -

Airtours were one of Thomas Cook brands.
I take it you have TC flights and maybe a TC hotel so it will be cancelled. You only get your direct debit payments refunded to your bank account so if you paid a deposit you will need to claim that back. I would wait until your DD payments are back in your bank then claim the deposit back if i were you.0
