Sorry to hear you have been unwell quintwins - I also fell into a trap with my shopping yesterday and came home having spent £31.70 on stuff I planned to spend and £47.77 on stuff I didn't. I was hungry when I went and just bought a load of snacky naughty stuff for the store-cupboard. It won't stay there long as we will pig it...

A £2.73 spend at our local greengrocer this morning on bananas, garlic and shallots. I have some leftover pumpkin in the fridge so I'll make some pumpkin, shallot and garlic soup. Gorgeous autumn comfort food!!!!.

This month's budget is disappearing fast! Another shop today of £25.61 - more than half of which weren't on my list for today but will be needed this month, which means we're already over half way through the budget but only a week into the month.

DH has also ordered some meat from the butchers which I need to pick up on Thursday and won't know how much it is until I get there!

Really must use up some of the stuff in the freezer and stop buying more, unnecessary, food!

    Hope your feeling better quintwins.
£8.70 spent yesterday in Mr m's; totally unintentional but I noticed own brand sardines in olive oil were on offer so I bought 10.....yes 10!!....I really like them:rotfl: Great for lunch with salad.
Plus I bought some black treacle in preparation for making my annual outing of gingerbread to take along to a bonfire party.
Reporting back on Jamies leek carbonara: Mr van made it and he really enjoyed it. It was only OK for me. I think next time I would be tempted to add an extra egg to give more silky sauce....and there will be a next time (sigh) as the leek mix made loads so half stored away in the freezer.
As mr van made it, and followed the recipe to the nth degree;), the green bits of the leeks were left over, so I made leek and potato soup with them which has skewed my meal plan a bit, but it means nothing was wasted plus some very cheap meals turned out of a few big leeks:money:

A gluten free stuff top up shop in mr t of 17 and then a quick whizz to mr s of 10 this week plus an emergency 4 Pinter of milk from corner shop puts the total at
    212/325.

Not panicking yet. Friday is halfway through for me but I have some meals in freezer so shouldn't be as big a shop as the last one.

Have some sad parsnips to use so will do a soup tomorrow.
  • Quick update

So far I've spent £85.91/£225 so have £139.09 left but shouldn't need much except bread and milk for the next couple of weeks (fingers crossed!) :)
    Mortgage: £81,154.58 (03/19) - £54,849 (02/24)
