Good to see you back posting again Sary. Are you a curry eater? If so you can make some great vegetarian curries using lentils and pulses.

You can use just about any veggies to make soup, probably one of the cheapest is leek and potato at the moment and leeks are reasonably priced at the moment.

Veggie quiches, frittata and omelettes are other good ways of using veggies to make cheap meals.

I usually buy chicken quite cheaply and can make one chicken last 3-4 days meals and if you don't fancy chicken in its' different guises every day you can easily freeze the meat to use another day.

We had roast chicken on Sunday, cold chicken yesterday, tonight's dinner will be Spanish chicken (chicken & chorizo risotto) and there will be enough left to make a curry! The carcus, along with a couple I've already frozen will be used to make some chicken stock for the basis of more soups.

Have a look at the Old Style board. There are lists of recipes in the first few pots, some of which can be made SW friendly quite easily. There is also a list which is headed as suitable for SW.

Hope there are some ideas yo can make use of there Sary to help stretch your money.

Good to see you back posting sary. Hope you've enjoyed your leave time but you did seem to spend a lot of it working with sheds!:D

It's a challenge to stretch the budget for 3 weeks but it can be done. These are the new Super 6 this week at Aldi:
    Broccoli (360g) - 39p
    Swede (each) - 39p
    Butternut Squash (each) - 65p
    Limes (5 pack) - 65p
    Mangetout (155g) - 65p
    Satsumas (600g) - 65p

All good Speed food and then they have wonky carrots which are cheap. I find a small amount of meat just for flavour is quite enough. DH and I had a chicken stir fry last night and I just used one breast (thinly cut from frozen) with a pile of veg and noodles. I use chicken thighs for casseroles as I think they are more tasty than breast. My favourite casserole recipe has a tin of butter beans as well as Speed so I'm getting plenty of protein. I saw a fake cassoulet recipe I want to try that has sausage, chicken thigh and IIRC cannellini beans which looks tasty but economical. Then there's my favourite: egg and chips!:D

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, baked beans (F), HEB toast, HEA milk, fried egg (P)
L: ham, fried LO veg, beetroot (S), I parsnip (F)
D: salmon (P), SW chips (F), broccoli, cauli, tomato, mushrooms (S)
    Syns: 0

Boo hiss, bit cheesed off to report a 1/2lb gain after WI today :o. Been on plan, but looking back at my WI schedule I seem to do this, have a little blip before a sizeable loss. With no obvious explanation. So here’s hoping for next week! I want to get that new number at the front! Am still recording my food intake to make sure no naughties slip in unnoticed, have adjusted portion size as there is now a little less of me. So will just have to keep plodding on.

BMI is 27.3 at the mo, so I am thinking I want to lose at least another stone. Am a size 16 now and want to change that! It is better than being a size 20, but not where I want to be yet. But now I get people commenting about how I should not lose too much and am I sure etc etc. It is not as though I am skinny! I just grin and bare it for now I guess. Sorry to have a little vent. Positive pants back on and let’s see what we can rustle up for dinner, including lots of speed....

    Poundsinbucks x :o

You just flash the flesh and that'll shut them up. :rotfl:

Good luck for next week. I agree that not everyone loses to a weekly pattern. Stick with it. :)

I didn't worry about BMI or even the number on the scales that much but I was determined to be a size 12. That was my best, motivational target. :)

  • Evening all, hope things are going well and things improve for those in need.
Weighed this morning and have lost 3lb, so now I have 5lb left to go. I haven't been this light since before I was 16.
    Todays menu:
Breakfast, banana and a cup of tea
Snack at 11am, coffee with 1 sugar and a jaffa cake total of 3.5 syns
Dinner, HEB roll with cheese HEA and beetroot
Snack, Milky coffee with HEA and 1 sugar so another syn
Tea, runner beans, carots, potatoes and chicken, I also had very watery gravy made from granules, most was left on my plate it was swimming lol :) not sure how many syns that would be.
Also made a wholegrain loaf of bread and ate a very thin slice off the crust with butter, was hungry and had run out of bananas and apples.
Cup of tea tonight with 2 jaffa cakes, 5 syns , Total syns 9.5 plus gravy and crust of bread :)
Hoping to say under the 10 stone mark, it's easier for me to stick to plan somehow.
Weight loss 6lb/16lb 10lb to go
I spend an insane amount of time wondering if I am doing it right, sometimes I remind myself that I am doing my best....and that is enough
