Small supplier Eversmart Energy stops trading - MSE News

  • Well this isn't good, on the 22nd August I started my energy switch away from Eversmart to another energy supplier and was given a completion date of 12/09/2019. what are the chances i will actually complete on the 12th.

    anyone any thoughts on what sort of problems will this cause me?

    I changed over to Bulb on 02 May this year. Out of curiosity, having heard the news, I logged in to my Eversmart account over the weekend and discovered it is still 'live'! They have been continuing to create new statements based on estimated readings, the last being on 16 August 2019. Not only that, when I left I had a small credit balance yet they continued to take Direct Debits.

    I have tried and failed to contact them on this matter and also about incorrect meter readings attributed to my account. I presume my failure to make contact today is due to their demise.

    I contacted my bank on Monday and they have actioned the refund of two Direct Debits under the terms of the Direct Debit Guarantee.

    If you have already switched away from Eversmart and in a similar situation I recommend you take this course of action. I say this because the information on the Ofgem website only gives advice to those still taking their energy from Eversmart (and waiting for a new supplier nominated by Ofgem to contact you).

    I have also downloaded all statements and taken screen shots of all meter readings submitted in case I find I'm allocated a new supplier as Eversmart still think my account is live. I also intent to contact Bulb who I changed to in May to request them not to action any attempt by Utilita Energy to change me over to them!
  • New supplier for Eversmart customers is Utilita, just ran through energy club and is £400 more than the next cheapest!

    Will be leaving them ASAP
  • Same for me. £356 more expensive than the best deal. Thankfully the switch I started a few weeks ago seems to be going through ok. Due to complete tomorrow (12th). Fingers crossed etc..

    Utilita was more expensive than all of the big six. Was at least five or six pages down in the cheap energy club list.

    Utilita's two tariffs available to me will cost me either 46% or 56% more than Eversmart according yo the Citizens Advice Energy Compare site. Thanks OFGEM.

    I am in the same boat as you, I started my switch on the 22nd August with a completion of 12th September.

    I have now just been emailed this morning confirming my switch has been completed successfully. my new Supplier is Avro; i'm hoping they last at least 12 months now :rotfl:

    Do I now have to wait until my account goes live with Utilita before I can organise a switch away from them?

    Or am I able to start the process now?
    Current Debt (excluding mortgage) - £7,020
    Reducing £450/ month.
  • Pleased i started switch to Symbio on Aug 28th before they went bust it goes live this Saturday

    I cant see many people staying with Utilita looking at their prices

    I started the switch to Symbio on 2nd September and they have given me a start date of 18th. DD has been set up.

    Just hoping that, as the switch started before Eversmart announced their demise, it goes through OK.
  • Just been on Utilita website. Says they are taking over from 11th September and transfer of supply on 18th September. Rang Customer helpline and was told by adviser they do not have any information and unable to give any details of what tarriff will be. Wait until we get contacted by Eversmart/Offgem or check back with Utilita on the19th. As I cancelled d/d on the 6th and sent meter photos I worked out we owe £124! From 6th September to the 18th is a black hole regarding who charges us!
