It's almost Labour's turn again anyway especially if the Tories have run out of ideas.

Lib Dems are ahead of Labour in the latest poll.
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Owen Jones goes to Tory Party Conference:

I've never seen a gathering of people so ill at ease with themselves.

Maybe they'll get a go then?

The point is that the Tory voters, based on this thread, can't really come up with any positive reasons to vote Tory other than other parties are even worse.

That's not a safe long-term strategy to stay in government especially as Corbyn the bogeyman can't stay for ever and they've already had nearly 10 years in charge with much of that squandered on brexit.

in normal years, the economic argument would be enough to get me to vote Tory. That argument is stronger than ever.

Hardly going to get people rushing to the polls on promising not to trash the economy as much as Labour might.

Nothing would persuade people to get rushing to the polls after so many remain MP's have proved willing to ignore their votes but still the Tories will win which is why you're so scared, because if the economy booms rather than crashes both you and the EU are going to look very stupid. This is what the EU are more scared of than anything else, that the UK will prosper post-Brexit.

I’ve tried to point out to you that the labour party’s real problem at the moment is leakage to the Lib Dem’s but as with most socialist serial losers you seem to be more worried about the motivations of people who will never vote for you rather than trying to persuade those who might.

If you’re thinking long term then perhaps consider why left wing labour hasn’t had a PM for forty years?
Perhaps this country has moved on from 1970s industrial relations and punitive income tax rates.

Labour's policies are quite popular, in a blind taste test a lot of Tories like them. But you didn't come here to discuss facts did you?

Perhaps if you'd lay down the bitterness and grievances you formed in 1970 (49 years ago) and moved into the present, you would have more to offer this debate than ad hominem attacks and lazy Daily Express stereotypes.

You might even surprise yourself. :)

It's easy to have popular policies, but making practical and affordable is the problem, which Labours aren't.

People need to wake up to the fact if you want better services you have to pay for them and that means everybody.

This is a thread about why Tories vote Tory so seems like the appropriate place to 'worry' about their motivations.

Labour aren't as left wing as the 1970s by the way - nowhere near. Just look at the average Labour MP - far better educated and better off than their peers of yesteryear.

Maybe you're not moving with the times?

The evidence that Tories aren't moving with the times will become evident during the GE when they're simultaneously soiling themselves about reds under the bed and saying Corbyn et al can't be socialists because they have nice houses and don't own whippets.
