    Hiya - welcome!

To be honest, I actually quite like their system of warnings - it gives Ryan a very clear picture of what behaviour is expected of him and what will happen if he doesn't behave.

The only criticism I had of it was that if the teachers can't stick to the rules they have made, it causes a lot of stress and frustration for AS children, who tend to be very rule-fixated.

I was quite proud of how I handled it though - instead of quietly seething about it, I spoke to his teacher for a few minutes after school, and calmly explained why it was causing a problem. He was actually really nice and agreed completely. The problem was that there are various teachers who help with the reading lessons, and they didn't all know exactly how the system worked, so were each doing their own version of it, which is just confusing. So he is going to speak to them and make sure they are all implementing it in the same way.

I managed to say everything I wanted to say without crying or getting cross, although my legs were shaking a bit! :o

  • Hi Weshigirl

I know it can't be easy being a teacher and I'm so glad there are a lot of good ones around. At the end of the day in my experience, a lot of the problems at school are about trying to fit a square peg (DS) into a round hole!

I fully appreciate how difficult it must be balancing the needs of a whole class, some with varying levels of diffficulties, with an AS pupil.

I honestly beleive that my son's school are really trying to do the best by him but on a very personal level any slightly 'bad' thing that happens in school affect our whole family's quality of life severely.

I hope that when he is ready to try to find employment that employers try as hard as his school!

    well done Snaggles !!! <dodgy hug here>
Often it doesn't occur to teachers until we mention stuff.
My lovely restful weekend went south today. I rang Josh's Dad and he told me he had the stomach virus that is going around-and so does his girlfriend-but he still wanted Josh to come for the weekend. I pointed out it was really contagious and with GCSEs in full swing (well the preperation) I did NOT want any further pressure on Josh-and him getting sick would not be good. He agreed and we cancelled. Josh was quite happy to be at home tomorrow with free rein of PC Wii and TV and a neighbour popping in -and then tonight I hear a loud crash and the tinkle of glass. Josh has this habit of running up to windows touching them and running off......at least THIS time he didn't end up in A&E !!! So he has no glass in his bedroom window-I'm cut from clearing up -and haven't done any of the thin gs I wanted to do tonight so need to be up about 6 to get them all done before leaving for London at 9...Oh and I can't find my phone charger ...or my house policy ARGHHHH !!!
    Off for 3 hours sleep

Oh no, what a nightmare. I hope everything gets sorted.

DD has woken up this morning with a bad tummy so we are in the loo every 5 mnutes and I have a stack of pants to wash (keep all them seperate and in the machine until it has cleared). She is still eating and no sickness but in the time it has taken me to type this she has been to the loo 3 times. It is going to be a long day!! xx

Awwww, poor girl. How old is she? Just keep her hydrated and she will be fine.

She is 5 - you know the saying though, you can take a horse to water.....

She would happily eat chocolate all day, had cornflakes for breakfast but wanted a pear just now, I did not think that a good idea, maybe toast for snacktime rather than something that will go 'straight through'. I really do not think kids feel it in the same way we do unless they are very ill, mine just tend to keep on going as usual. They went to a party yesterday so hope it is not something all the kids are going to get. Ryan seems fine though.

    Right, time to get dressed!!

sorry to jump into this thread, but i just wanted to say thanks to OP.
i remember reading this thread before xmas and reading about obtaining birth notes. i wasn't aware you could do it and after having a few unanswered q's about my DS's birth and treatment afterwards i wanted answers (i am pregnant again and don't want it to happen this time). anyway, yesterday i went to check my notes at the hospital (£10 fee) and was interested in what i read, plusit has put my mind at rest, so thanks. x
Lead me not into temptation, I can find the way myself.

Evening everyone, I hope everyone is ok, DD not to bad now but went to bed crying with a sore bottom as she 'could not sit or lie down' bless her. I put some sudocream on her - boy did she scream. you have to be cruel to be kind thoug, gave her some Calpol so she can get off to sleep. Fingers crossed she will be OK tomorrow (gave her the sick bucket in case that started too, can't be too careful with that Novo Virus going around).

I have a question about 'fake crying'. Does that make sense, I think I am more aware of things these days and Ryan refused to go into Tesco today but I managed to get him in but he does this 'fake cry' that is like a one tone moan with breaks in. Does that make sense? He does it all the time rather than proper crying. Is this something I should worry about or do all kids do it (DD doesn't do it unless she is messing around). It's just weird. People staring at me all around the supermarket because of the noise he makes, I really do hate going but when you've got to eat I suppose you have to go!! I also find when he talks to people he gets real close - in your face close, how can I stop him doing this? Any ideas at all?
