not been on this thread for a while. DS is getting worse since he hasnt been at school. They will only have him an hour a day, and even then they send him home. All the ASD schools have no places and 2 wont even let me view until at least september.
Has anyone else had this, im seriously thinking about going to the paper because the coucil are as much use as a chocolate tea pot.
Just dont know where to turn, or who to go to for help anymore, im so sad for my DS.

Write a press release - in the third person, by which I mean as if someone else was talking about you
e.g. A local boy is being denied education for more than 1 hour a day. Tom Brown, aged x, from Somewhere, is often sent home from school on arrival, as they are unable to cope with his needs due his disability.....
Talk about your having to give up work due to needing to look after him and will be needing to claim carer's allowance just as the government is trying to get people off benefits and into work.
I'm trying that one at the moment, trying to get sufficient care/support hours for my autistic adult son. The social worker is going to go back to the funding panel for them to look at it again, otherwise I'm going to my mp etc (as above). I won a residential school placement several years ago (for my other son) and a full grant for an extension for disabled access.
My advice to anyone is look up the law/rules and be able to quote them. Be polite but persistant. My two sons & I all have an Autistic Spectrum Disorder.0 -

I'm taking my son for his second opinion diagnosis (originally referred by the edu/psychologist).
He's 8 now, and charmed the team at the last one, doing everything he was told so I'm hoping this one will see him get a diagnosis.
First diagnosis had three people, they spoke with me and my husband and assessed DS alone. It took a couple of hours.Payment a day challenge: £236.69

DS1 was assessed by someone at University, if that applies, to enable him to get the Disabled Students Grant to pay for the mentoring he needed.
Whether that's a formal diagnosis or not, I'm not sure. The report says he has "fragments of Asperger's".Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
We went for the final part of the diagnosis today and they have confirmed that my son has Aspergers, although mild.Payment a day challenge: £236.69

Hello Ladies - i'm after a bit of advice/some good ideas.
I have a 13yo boy with autism.
The short version of the story is that we went on Saturday on a very expensive 5 night holiday advertised and designed as being especially for people with Autism.
I don't want to mention any names on here (PM if you're nosey!) in case it ends up going down the legal route.
We arrived Saturday evening and had a lovely night and a lovely Sunday. After dinner on Sunday we were asked by the organiser to leave as it wasn't right for my son.
Being totally honest (and not just because he's my boy), his behaviour was no different to any of the other children there. The only difference was that my son is 5'5", 7+st and 13 years old. The other children were all under 6 and their parents were able to lift them and take them out of sight when they were 'being autistic'.
I'm so angry and upset by the whole situation which is not being helped by them ignoring my requests for them to contact me.
I've emailed tv & newspapers and the National Autistic Society.
Can any of you lovely people think of anything else I could be doing other than sitting here raging?:beer:0 -

I can't help but I hope you find a way to see them suitably repremanded.
I would have thought that they should have been aware of age / size difference and compatibility of groups if it was the sort of holiday that would mean it may be a problem, (I mean there were group activities or the need to be in close proximity of others etc). There's no excuse for ruining your holiday, they should have every eventuality planned for, that's why people go there surely.0 -

How about contacting Trading Standards i.e. if they only wanted children under a certain age or height, then they should have said so! Also may be covered by Disability Discrimination? My two sons & I all have an Autistic Spectrum Disorder.0
