Hi -just caught up with this thread again, having not been on it for ages because I'd got nothing really to say.
My son told me tonight that his girlfriend is applying for DLA and been told (don't know by whom, but some sort of authority) that she WILL get it. Hope that's not famous last words!
I've advised my son to tell her to get someone to help her fill the form in; maybe her disability advisor at the JC, or the CAB.
Keeping everything crossed.......(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Hi all
Have to tell you all my good news as I tell you all the bad usually
Ms DS has been on work experience this week at a primary school; his teacher phoned me weeks ago to say they were struggling to get him a placement because as soon as they mentioned he was as the offer was withdrawn. Anyway the local school that does not have a very good reputation said they would have him as long as his classroom ta came in occasionally to check he was ok. Other kids from his class were sent to local posh catholic school supposedly because they new how to behave.
Ds been there all week loves it been on best behaviour and the teacher has phoned his school to say he was a credit to them.
Kids as posh catholic school were sent back to own school for swearing at children and throwing things around toilets.
Just goes to show you our kids do listen and can hold it together when they get older, don’t get me wrong he has been hard work when he gets home hyper and never shuts up but its worth it
Told him so proud of him his face lit upproud mum of son with aspergers0 -
Hi everyone,
Just been browsing lately as had teeth done and feel carp! Mandyh, what an absolutely wonderful story and thank you for sharing this with us all.
Hope everyone else is OK. Had a difficult week with both kids - more unstable and violent than usual, I am not sure what is setting it off - we have had LESS sweets and biscuits than usual and they have got worse (maybe sugar withdrawl, LOL), I've spoken to the Gym and Ryan is now going to the older class as from tonight, still structured but more physical and learning more than the young class did. I think that when the lady dragged him intio teh class last week he would not have gone back if she was there. We shall see.
Have a nice weekend everyone.0 -

That is wonderful news.
My son also did well on his work experience and got a glowing report. I cried!
I think maybe it's because they are given some responsibility and treated like adults.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Sorry, me again, putting the finishing touches to my disability allowance form.I keep putting it off and my time is running out. The timetable of my son is so hard to do so i keep putting it off.
Did you tick in part 5 "physical disability" for a child with aspergers? I thought i should due to over hightened senses which causes problems. What do you think?0 -

I don't know if I am in the right thread or not, basically, my son was assessed as being on the autistic spectrum 2 years ago, I spent most of the time since in complete denial but can now see for myself (long story).
Basically I would now like to get my son diagnosed as I would like to know "where" he might be on it.
He gets a lot of support and will not lose/gain in this area by a diagnosis, I think I just need to know for sure and was looking for advice/reassurance that this is a wise move.
He is coming up 7, attends a special communication school four afternoons a week and gets support at his mainstream school.
