it can get easier but i think you need some degree of control. my ds would insist on going home but then have a meltdown any way over other things
so i decided about two years ago thta i would be in for a penny in for a pound and at least have the resemblance of control. i started doing it with little things at home that he reufused to do or things he insisted on doing right away, he still tanted but i just ignored a lot of it and did things in my own time, he is nearly 15 now and 6ft tall so am glad i did god knows were i would be. the need for restrain is still their but as a last resort on really bad days. i to got to the point were i never took him any where as i was embarressed but this was when we did not know what his condition involved
you learn as you go along i have had to go out today for paint for his room as we promised it would be done after xmas, he came home boxing day night and aasked was it being done tomoz as its after xmas now and i had promisedproud mum of son with aspergers0 -

Hiya happy new year.
By the way on a positive note anyone with aspergers kids then Twinlakes in Melton Mowbray is great cos there are animals to look at and lots of free play areas like giant wacky warehouses, my ds loved it cos although he was among other kids he just did his own thing and had way more freedom than he could get at school, or home for that matter! AND get to do teh same thing over and over again and it not be a problem for anyone!Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

However a quick search of this thread hasn't brought up what I'm looking for, so I'm thinking it's on a completely different thread. If anyone knows which post I'm talking about and can think of ways to find it that would be fantastic!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Wracking my brains too Sue as I know which you mean! Fingers crossed.

I have been thinking ever since bm posted that someone, somewhere has posted about how she worked out with her DD what things Mum would decide, and what things DD could decide. They used Social Stories, and it was an uphill struggle but they got there. It was along the lines of "Mummy will decide what I have for tea, and what time I go to bed. I can decide what to wear, and which book to read."
However a quick search of this thread hasn't brought up what I'm looking for, so I'm thinking it's on a completely different thread. If anyone knows which post I'm talking about and can think of ways to find it that would be fantastic!
Is it this one?
