just googled, and parent partnership is nationwide, you need to enter your details on their website, and somebody from your local branch will contact you. good luck hunenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0

Just to say, I'd recommend parent partnership too. Don't worry, they've seen it all before. They can help you ask for the right help for your son at school. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

hi
not been on for ages.
DS has now been diagnosed with auditory processing disorder as well as his autism.
He is going to be assessed for Dyspraxia tomorrow after waiting 18 months for appt:rolleyes:
The autism team have had to go into school a few times lately as his hand flapping and constantly talking about numbers has got out of control:eek: .
School have suggested I start telling him about his autism...but he is only 5 and am not sure he would understand esp given his APD.
What do others think?
BM.....what is a HAND card?0 -
Hi guys, back to report on what happened.
Basically when the head tried to talk to Ryan he would not answer - so this is why he wanted me there so I could talk to him and find out what happened. It turned out that 2 boys hit him (different ones!) and he asked them not to do that and they did it again, they used the swear words too amd he repeated them. He hit them back and he got caught - because he got caught swearing and got told off for that while the others got away with it he just had a meltdown and messed up one of the play areas. Because all 3 things happened in one morning, had it been just one they would probably of told him off and have not mentioned anything to me.
It was actually quite insightfully to be honest (everything for a reason??) because they got to see what sets him off and what happens - which they had not seen before - they have told me they want to know these things so they can help him and also help him if they are feeling stressed. The head was great and is also going to make some calls to try and get me access to more services in the area but he praised how well I was doing with him.
I also explained about DD and that she was the same, that I could not go anywhere unless I had a carer for DS with me, et... he said that he would rung around and try and get me some more information as he knew people via other kids he had taught. Was not expcting that at all to be honest, but they were great. I was able to speak about how he is at home and the head said he was not aware that it has such an impact on our lives and that if I needed to speak I knew where the door was as this is the kind of school that they were (which I did know but you can hardly go knocking on the door) but now I've been called down I think it will help more. We spoke about Ritalin as Doc said Ryan would be medicated when he was 7 and stuff like that.
He said it was great that I was doing everything I could for the kids because some parents would not do anything, or would ignore the problems and not accept the help. He said I was doing a great job.
I also explained that when Ryan was naughty in the other school he would be sent to the heads office and she would make him sit on the floor facing the wall and would not even be allowed to speak to ME when I entered the room. I guess this is how you deal with disabled kind in their world, so this is why he would proabably not speak to the head - and again they said they would speak to him in the library in the future because of this and so he might be able to open up more. And he was going to speak to the other kids that hit him.
So a huge relief. It's been one thing after another this week - and I do not seem to have had a moment to do anything I wanted at all. I was worried that he was going to bexcluded for a bit but this was not the case at all. One worry out of the way for now at least. Thanks for listening and I'll give Parentline a call next week to see what help they can offer.
PS. I've got PMT and I am on a diet - could he have picked a better week.... LOL!!0 -
Hi NPM, I am glad that things are getting there though, it's a start. I am not sure I can tell Ryan either and he is almost 5. It's a hrad descision, I cannot even explain his condition to DD and she is 6. That is a hard descision. I guess they have to know sooner or later though.

glad it went well at school blue monkey, they really seem like a good school, who listen to parents and support them.
i tried talking to my sons about there adhd, but then they started using it as an excuse to behave even worse, so now we hardly mention it, they know it is harder for them to learn, but they also know that it does not stop them from having to try harderenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0 -
Hi Guys.
Just an update on my post 2287.
The crimbo rush has come and gone for the products my sister makes, and if anyone is interested, then pm me for the details.
She has just had a,shall we say, rather large order from Sunderland HA,so there seems to be some proof here that the product does help people,if a health authority likes what they see.
She is moving out of making the products at her house soon, into a small unit, and intends to try and increase her product range,so hopefully there will be more to help alleviate various problems.

About 2 months ago, I took #3 son to the Drs for help with his behaviour (lack or organisation, lack of personal hygeine etc.) They took blood tests, which we were never given the results of, when I phoned for them they kept saying they weren't back yet!). And an arrangement was made for him to see a councellor at school - a community mental health nurse suggested we see Relate or similar as a family (at our own cost).
The school have now put him on a 'report card' which means he has to get each teacher to sign for each lesson that he has behaved well, turned up with all equipment/homework etc. As a result, he's had two detentions this week alone, because of lack of equipment and 3 no homeworks.
He seems to be getting worse, not better........ He's thumped a bully at school (school were aware of the situation and had supposedly all the group of bullies had been called in front of head of year), and he's cheeked a teacher (told her she was 'harsh' because she wouldn't let him base his art work on a console game which was out of his age range)Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0
