We sent our DLA forms off yesterday - wish us luck. A's physio appointment on Thurs which is going to be fun - he is going to kick off as he hates going anywhere new and we have had our date for him going to the day ward for blood tests. Poor little man x xPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000

I got my forms for the DLA through and thought I had put the site for helping fill out the form into my favourites but cannot find it. Can someone point me in the right direction please. Also, it has a bit at the end on asking someone else to fill in the page for you about how Ryan is, because we don't really mix with other people who do I get to fill it in? Shall I ask his teacher again, she has already filled the other forms in that she needed but the only person we ever really see is my sister. I guess it is OK to ask her? Thanks for any help xx
I claimed DLA for my son for the first time when he was about 11 (2 years ago). The claim was turned down as they said his needs were not substantially different from other children of his age. I was very upset because it was one more thing that suggested it was all my fault that my son had problems. I appealed and went to tribunal (I got lots of help from the free forums on the Benefits and Work site). I represented myself and I felt the tribunal took notice of my evidence. My son was awarded high rate care and low rate mobility. I should have provided more evidence with my initial form, you cannot rely on them to get the evidence, if you want them to consider the opinion of someone involved in supporting the child you should ask for a report from that person and submit it with your evidence. I my case my son had seen a psychiatrist and psychologist, he had a one to one tutor outside school and a childminder who helped with his care. I provided the contact details of all these people to provide supporting evidence, but they only contacted the school. The school were sent a standard form which only has a small number of questions mostly tick boxes. Some of the questions invite a degree of speculation e.g. can the child cross a road safely. The teacher will not have evidence of this because even if they cross roads on school trips etc it will be highly supervised. For my appeal I provided statements from all the people I mentioned above and from my son's uncle and grandparents and the mother of a boy in his class, explaining why they find it hard to look after him and describing behaviour issues that they have witnessed/experienced. I also included an additional statement fro me explaining that the school report was inaccurate because it was a very rigid secure environment with constant supervision. It was impossible to provide that degree of support at home.
Good luck with your claim0 -
i also used that cereba form for dd2 dla renewal i also used one from www.bhas.org.uk/freeguides/dla-mentalhealthgrounds hope link is ok if not just go to bhas.org.uk and go from there i spent a whole day while she was at school to do it so no distractions and went through it really slowly then when i was few pages on kept going back and thinking i should have put this and that It's hard to try and think what extra help you give your child as you just do it automatically thinking Definatley keep photo copies of everything you send them you can use them if you have to appeal or for when you renew it next time I listed everyone dd2 is seeing at camhs school everywhere i could think of i didn't use any relatives It didn't take to long for it to come back and say i had it till 2012 and then have to apply again.
to keep you updated dd2 sent really bright picture to John Barrowman last week it took her 3 attempts at it till she was happy with it. Him fighting a alien thats 'farting' she even wrote in what he was doing I sent a letter in with it in a blank card with a really nice picture on it so it should get noticed.I wrote all about what had happened ,so just have to wait and see what happens now.Only trouble is now she knows that he's doing a concert in April at the Birmingham symohony hall have managed to talk her out of moaning that i haven't got tickets for her it's on a school night and sold out She has now got his latest cd and like a daft bat that i am i taped it to listen to in the car (no cd player in it) and now i'm not allowed to listen to anything else i swear i could tell you the song titles in order.0 -
quick note tried to get the link to work and it doesn't just go to bhas.org.uk and go to dla guides I'm really useless on the computer i'm going to have to learn how to do these links0

Fallenangel i think there was a bit missing off your link. hopefully this one works.
I used this guide when I claimed and I'm sure I wouldn't have succeeded without it. I'd agree send as much evidence as you possibly can, we sent stuff that was 2-3 years old but it still helped, we also had a letter from our GP even though he didn't know him, a letter from a grandparent saying his needs differed from his other grandchildren etc etc. It gives the message that you know what you are doing. When I spoke to them about the claim they said it was easy to process as we'd supplied everything they needed. We also used phrases such as "social isolation" and spoke of our concerns for his mental wellbeing in the future if he didn't have the extra help we as parents have to provide. It has been life-changing for us meaning I don't have to work hence reducing stress for everyone and making it easier to me to deal with the difficult behaviour.
Had parents evening, it's year 2 so sats is big news, DS has gone from level1 in writing in sept to 2B/2A in Feb, so proud of him as writing is so difficult from him. Just shows what a supportive teacher can do.
Best of luck in filling out the horrific DLA forms and do shout if you need any advice. Don't worry about repeating yourself, again it gets the message across.0 -

My work isn't seen as specialised per se these days ... but like all things, the more skill you have, the more you earn.
One thing I do is home-typing. But I have RSA III Typewriting, type at over 100wpm with perfection and used to teach Typing.
The other thing I do is I have a couple of websites that are making a few quid. From advertising space on them. And I really need to do more of this ... when I can get round to it. Getting round to anything is something a long and drawn out process, but once I've got round to something I tend to then get locked into it 24/70 -
I do get to know about a lot of jobs too... but can't say about that here as it would be deemed 'advertising'.
I myself did a real one last year at about £18k/year, sat on my sofa. I will be redoing my website in the next month or so, and will be making all that side of things active/current again. But at the moment it's a bit behind as I was spending too much time tracking them all down.0 -
Well, any ideas would be much appreciated, as the Cholly coffers are getting a bit empty, and the way I'm feeling at the moment, outside work is not really an option ... I'm also feeling somewhat bored.0
