Hi Snaggles - thanks for the vote of confidence. thats so nice to hear.
posting about this has been a revelation!
DD&D, we are attending for 2 full days assessment (mon and thurs in Feb) - there were loads of forms to fill in!!!
it was quite therapeutic doing it - you also have to provide school reports, docs letters etc. the envelope was so thick and heavy it cost £4.50 to post:rolleyes:
You sound like you are doing a great job with your son. how clever he sounds!
well better go as my son has walked in and asked for food and another issue he has is inpatience!!:o
i will definately post again.

'And all this time I thought I had to change you
But now I know I only have to change the world to fit you'
snaggles - i love this!!!!!0 -
i have just re-read that quote and it has made me so tearful...that sums up the way i feel about my son 100%. :A0

Snaggles..no really I just try to look like I'm sane on here lol...you should see me on a bad day :rotfl: or should it be
I think any parent of a special kid has to have a sense of humour and although he reduces me to tears at times we also have tears of joy tooI'm proud he chose me to be his Mum and wouldn't be without him
I'm just trying to help people from our experiences,as indeed we all are..:A if I can help just one person take a shortcut I'll have hopefully saved them some of the misery we went through..The more knowledge we share amongst parents the better hopefully it will be for our kids.
*gets off soapbox*
DK thats really good they'll have a lot of info before you even go..the best way so they will hopefully be looking for specific things when you do the assessmentsThey know exactly what they are doing..and 2 days is good it will give them a rounded view of how things are.
Have a good evening Dee XX0 -

Its a little too advanced for him at present but it really is good. Its all worksheets that you do together eg people are different on the inside and the outside etc.Really user friendlyand most of all very positive!!

I feel we have failed as parents. This has been a battle . Yet every now and again you get someone come along who says 'yes he does have a real problem.' yet nothing gets done or finalised.
A [STRIKE]quick[/STRIKE] phone call to IPSEA might be useful. Hate to say it, but it sounds as if the school may be wanting to ditch him now so he doesn't mess their stats up when the results come in. Fair enough if someone was offering a better alternative FOR YOUR SON, but I don't suppose you've heard that yet, have you?
Also on Radio 4 on Sundays and Mondays there is an education programme - the most recent one I heard had a bit about managing exclusions and especially a managed handover when a child starts a new school.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
What a very poignant and thought provoking thread and then I read both your signatures Snaggles....
.....that's the way we should be starting to make the world view our disabilities or those of our loved ones - with compassion and the amount of treasured friends who wish to help us through it all.

Hi Snaggles, so glad the waiting is over for you. You, as his mum, already knew the diagnosis but hearing it is weird. I didn't think my son was ASD and resisted it as his symptoms could be put down to other conditions. Having that face to face meeting made all the difference and made us accept that our little boy does have Asperger's and has made coping with his outbursts and different ways so much easier.
He's been seeing professionals since he was 18 months for one reason or another and this was the first one who 'got' him. Everyone else said he was an enigma, they'd never met a child presenting like he was then suddenly at 7 someone understood him.
Hope it makes it easier for you too. How has his dad taken it?0
