  • Morning Everyone.

I had the meeting yesturday re my DS and am really no further forward regarding getting him back into school full time. Am really pee'd off. Also received a letter from my employer yesturday saying that as of 29th february i will no longer be getting paid either. Have explained this to the school aswell. So pooh really will be hitting the fan in a matter of weeks as if i dont have enough to cope with. I have been looking for another job as a back up incase i do inevitebly loose my current job but problem is i dont know what hours i can do because of the school so its a catch 22 situation.

Can someone who knows let me know, im sure that with the re intergration plan of getting a special needs child back into full time education there has to be a dead line ie say by a certian date all things must have been tried and then child is back into full time education???

Poor son getting worse making noises more and more and where he was speaking his speach going backwards again. im sure its as a result of being messed about by the school and no proper routine of knowing whats happening to him.

You need the depressed thread. Not this one.

This is the happy and contented group

Have to say I agree here.
We need this group, we need it to stay on-topic it gets me down when I see I've missed loads of posts, I read through them and they're all irrelevant to the thread (Aspergers/ASD Support).
No offence SP but if you want support, start a thread that's relevant to you because this isn't helping any of us.

Student Phil is well known for hijacking threads & for being a bully! His comments on this thread are so typical of him!

It's best to just ignore him, then he might find another thread to Hijack!!!

Sorry but Student phil need to go and navel gaze elsewhere. At least one of his comments on this thread is so discriminatory as to earn him a ban on the forum and I'm perfectly prepared to make enough waves to ensure he IS banned as he has completely offended me. I've seen his antics on other threads enough to know what silly little games he is playing and if he thinks he can use OUR kid's to gain attention he's right out of luck. Go wallow somewhere else Phil-and leave us to deal with issues constructively-something you haven't got the wit or the want to do with your own life !!! I pity you-but not enough to allow you to cause disruption or dissent in the support group here !

    Hi Sarah,
Sorry to hear that you're no nearer to resolving the issues surrounding your son's education. I can't help you with this, as I'm not a specialist in education. I would strongly advise you to contact ACE or IPSEA. As far as I know, there is meant to be a deadline set.

Another good source of info and help would be your local NAS branch. Also give NAS Advocacy for Education a call:
Advocacy for Education Service The Advocacy for Education Service (0845 070 4002) supports parents and carers of children with an autistic spectrum disorder providing accurate information on educational provision and entitlements.
Good luck and don't panic. Feb 29th is still a long way off. Also, you can ask for unpaid parental leave, as your child is disabled.

Thank you very much for your help its really appreciated. Parental leave is an option too, but again i will not get paid so in the crap financially then. Can a employer refuse parental leave? also am not in a position to say to an employer how long i will need for parental leave because of the education situation. I will make phone calls today on the helplines youve given me to find out how i can force the school to provide a deadline. DS been on part time schooling since middle of October 07 if im feeling frustrated god knows how he is feeling poor lamb xx

  • Sarah.....i hope evrything gets sorted out soon......keep us up to date with whats happening.....hugs
  • sarah, I dont think you can be refused unpaid leave....but i am only going off my employers HR policy (NHS)....i would assume its across the board tho....and you are entitled to more pro rata parental leave if your child is disabled.
  • I will try calling the LEA .. my understanding too is that when pupil is on part time schooling (which in effect is a form of exclusion) that the school MUST provide work for that child whilst at home (when should be in school) Since Middle of October 07 the school have only done this on 2 occasions. DS far enough as it is with his work this is making it worse. When in this meeting yesturday i looked at his timetable of what work is being done iwth him and it amounts to about 1hour of academic work the rest is playing games etc. Isnt good because this is not preparing him for going back into a full time classroom situation, because he is learning he can play games at school when should be learning academics and also that he can be at home with me all the time.
