    Good morning super savers
So here's the thing - I already feel behind today as didn't do much around house last night, slept a bit on off and then overslept.
There was an option to do a longer club run + park run that I deemed slightly too ambitious. And I have got prep to do for work for Monday and I have house work to do - so priorities:
NSD day - GAVE DS £4 FOR COOKIES HOW DID THAT HAPPEN
Cook a piece of gamon I bought not quite sure what to do with it.
Take out chicken bits for dinner. DONE
Clean kitchen DONE (PART 1)PART 2 NOT DONE
    Vacuum everything :j:j:j
    Clean bathroom IGNORE ...
Tidy all surfaces and floor in my bedroom - not quite done moving in yet WORKING ON IT NOW
Work for 2 hours on job stuff ...
    Medium run ABOUT TO DID
Garden hour -did quite a lot after dinner as sunset piknik was cancelled when ds got party invite! Had dinner outside in stead, did lawn, half of fig tree and found 2 lovely ripe figs, and made a start on some ivory and got 5 mosquito bites.
Dusk picknick w ds nope - will do something nice tomorrow
Run laundry .. after run DONE
Checked banks and budgets yesterday and it's gloomy
Go see exhibition in next town PROBABLY TOMORROW
Arrange to see friend - maybe (she has a cold - I never really have colds!) NOW FRIDAY
Anyways probably enough of a list for the whole weekend.
    See y'all later

    Ditty ideas for gammon:
A roast dinner (roast it like any other meat) and eat with roast vegetables and gravy

You can alternatively simmer it on top of the stove or cook it in a slow cooker or one of those Instant Pot things (my daughter has one of these, which is why I have heard of it!) Timings will vary according to the size of your joint, if the timings aren't indicated on the packaging, google is your friend :)
Hot boiled gammon goes traditionally with pease pudding, which is a bit of a faff to make, but very nice

You can have cold slices in sandwiches or with a salad
Or with eggs and chips (naughty I know!)
    Or baked beans
You can reheat cold gammon slices in a frying pan like bacon for breakfast
Leftovers make a lovely soup with veg, or go in a quiche or frittata

You can freeze it cooked or uncooked. If it has been frozen uncooked, you can cook it, slice it and freeze again - but don't refreeze cooked meat that has been frozen in a cooked state before, if that makes sense.
Just a few ideas, I am sure there are loads more :)

    Hi August Austerity-Fans,

I'm not almost on paid holiday from work for two weeks. :j

Trying to fit a lot in.

This week has been <insert swear words here> but it's over and I'm moving on.

    Debt-Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Five:

    * Check online banking. Done.

    * I just totted up how much cashback I'm due. It's £56.40. My employer has a great scheme whereby I can get cashback on lots of every day expenses on things I'd be spending on anyway. Win win.

    * Pack for forthcoming holiday. Hate this job. Done. It was awful.

    * Deal with dodgy drainpipe, again.

    * Treat my late father's wooden toolbox with some preservative. Stage 1: sprayed with mould killer.

    * Continue my Challenge 500 miles challenge to travel 500 miles for free before the end of 2019: walking, hiking, climbing, cycling, running and swimming. I'm up to 327/500. Done.

    * Buy veg for soup. Done. £1.08 and will make 4 lunches for the pair of us.

    Still writing...

  • Morning everyone

Weather has been shocking this morning and had a bit of a challenging night. Nextdoor left their son to have a party. We threatened them with the police at 11.30pm but it was an all nighter so anyone sleeping at the back of the house like my DD and the houses behind suffered a lot last night. I should imagine a lot of complaints will be coming next doors way

    Tonight will be interesting
ziggy I have served my time and start back training with my sport tonight :) Team manager has strict instructions to drag me off court as I won't listen to my body. Also taking a bag in case my body decides enough is enough and I need to be sick.
I wanted to start training sooner but when I saw the specialist last and said I couldnt and my body was struggling I got a very smug 'I told u so' from the specialist but im allowed to start slowly as Im conscious that I need to really get my fitness and stamina up ready for the next operation and I have already been selected to play for a team but really need to pace myself (not one of my strong points)

DNMS I don't watch TV at all but do watch things on my tablet when I'm doing pressure sore prevention treatment. I'm a fidget pants, can't sit still for long as my joints get really painful so need to move but have been watching Gavin and Stacey from the start and Jonathan Creek as there are missed episodes I haven't watched.

DD has gone back to bed and I've had a big Amazon delivery of cat food and bits. While I don't particularly like using Amaz@n the food sachets for my elderly cat are much cheaper and it's the convenience of heavy stuff being delivered.
Never did the ironing. I decided to go out to send a parcel instead. It was a baptism of fire as it's the first time since the op that I've done a whole thing from driving, getting out of the car, going into the post office etc which was very successful but I was really tired after.

Later went out to Tesc@ when DD came home. We waited until it was YS time. We got some cracking YS bargains. Some bits have gone into the freezer and I've eaten the raspberries we got for my breakfast with my porridge.
Also managed to get a couple of boxes which is virtually unheard off but have presents to send next month. Going into birthday present season:( again even before Christmas
Balanced up my bank account. DD had lost her bank card so took mine while she was away.Monies she spent have been paid back.
Sorted out a refund with curry's as washing machine was installed so £25 coming back

That's about it from me. Easy day today before tonight
Have a good day everyone x

  • HK - I use Z00plus for my kitty supplies. Delivered to your door and also cheaper than Amaz0n. Might be worth a look. Well done being able to get back on with your training as well. :)
So, I have one good day and a couple of rough days. August has kind of been like that this year. Some really excellent times and some absolutely rubbish ones as well. However, it's almost over. Don't worry - I will rant on my diary about it.
I'm just surviving today and tomorrow and focussing on prepping to go back to work on Monday. I should manage a nsd, and I'm almost up to date with the washing, albeit only for a day until kids or cats make more for me.
Lacking in motivation a bit so it's just the very basic stuff.
  • Hi all, managed to get washing dry on the line as it has been sunny this afternoon. Went to DD1's bestfriend's for tea yesterday so got spiced veg casserole still in the fridge for tea today (probably tomorrow too!). Did small shop in Mr A and got some offers but no YS stuff. Put a load of stuff on the Bay of E and got a bid on one and an offer on another! Took 2 bags to the CS. Meeting friend tomorrow at NT place for picnic. Was going to do a car boot sale but can't face arguing over 50p while standing in a field hoping the rain holds off!
    Take care everyone

  • Morning frugal pals :hello:

I managed everything on my list yesterday apart from biscuits and going out, so not too bad for the things that were missed. They may get carried over to today. Other things:

    Pick more fruit
Run. I really enjoyed yesterday and need to try and get a long one under my belt
Make roast dinner, got some spuds and parsnips i par boiled and froze from freezer
    Cook gammon in sc
    Make soup for lunches
    Make sausage rolls
Get ready for lunch boxes etc... for tomorrow
Sort out slow puncture on my car, may leave it until tomorrow but annoying as I have an appointment first thing that I can't miss, may just have to bite the bullet and get a taxi.
Continue a bit of garden tidy up

Have a good day all. Purps.
  • Morning, everyone

Well I survived the hen do. Lunch was lovely and I managed to leave shortly after and left everyone else to go on partying.

Today's tasks (not many - it is Sunday)

Check bank account (don't expect any movement from yesterday)
Tend to plants (parsley is starting to get curly edges. I'm so excited that I've managed to grow it. I'm such a simple soul)
Make goulash for dinner in slow cooker.
Chicken wings from freezer for lunch
Change bedding. Wash the old stuff and hang outside if it stays nice. If not I'll hang it upstairs
Make a rough meal plan for next week
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.
  • Morning :D eurgh I am feeling bad! I bought some port to make jam yesterday and predictably that lead to me having 4 ports. So drinkable but lethal! Must at some point in my life learn restraint....

    Today:

    * I have tidied up, put a load in the machine & will hang out when finished, and wiped round the bathroom sink :D Go TOMM! Tidy & clean house with just 10 mins effort :T

things for the rest of the day

    * make jam. Might pit the damsons now
    * sterilise kilner jars to make blackberry whiskey and damson gin :D
    * taking madam to Dreamland amusement park. We have a card which means me & oh go free saving £28 :money:
    * will take the pup out for a walk shortly
    * finish off putting madam's name in her school things and getting her stuff ready

yesterday we took some things to the tip. While there I took a microwave - there were loads there - ours was beyond saving but they are so expensive now! Brought it home and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it! Have just looked it up and I saved us £70 :T
