  • Aw no - sorry to hear your news ditty...
Hey Toni'sfriend - belated welcome over here too :D
I am broken today - my divorce party last night. It was lovely, although a lot of people just didn't bother coming, which isn't great for my self esteem but it was lovely to see some good friends there. We had lots of fun, lots of cocktails and lots of food, plus I brought all the leftovers home so I will get my money's worth.
I woke up half a dozen times during the night just far too warm but also feeling close to death with my impending hangover. However, I was up at 7am to take delivery of the new sofa - which I have already extensively napped on :rotfl: Plus I was fine with the broadband engineer - even though all he did was effectively switch it off and back in again :rotfl::rotfl:
Also struggled to Mr S for groceries for kids. I have SO many leftovers though that I've just bagged and thrown in the freezer - even though I have no clue if you can freeze stuff like sandwiches. I shouldn't need to shop for myself any time soon - I have curry, sandwiches and even fish and chips in the freezer so I have restaurant food in my own home (provided that freezing it works) to enjoy in my own time :j
Not managed much else but considering I'm massively hungover I'll be pleased with what I've done.

    Evening all :)
Sorry to hear your news Ditty - hope you find something else soon.
CCL, glad your party went well. And as for the leftovers, most things freeze ok when it comes down to it.
Not done much today, had DD and kids round again today (their kitchen is being done, which is lovely, but not easy with small children around). What with that and recovering from a virus, I am a bit wiped out again, and haven't done much. I did however:
Take some items to my sales unit
    Sold an ebay item
Done the ironing that I didn't get to yesterday, including a selection of dresses I bought at a boot sale at the weekend. I have decided to keep 3 of them and sell one, sadly the one with the nicest fabric, but it has a funny neckline and fussy puff sleeves, so it is better off going on ebay. It is a Laura Ashley dress, so hoping to make a profit - should do, all 4 dresses cost me only £6 :)
Put dehydrated raspberries and banana I did yesterday into a jar - will check in a couple of days whether they are truly dry, but they are usually ok, and make a welcome addition to winter breakfast cereal :)

All food was from home, and nothing spent :T

Sorted out a red tomato chutney recipe to hopefully make tomorrow, as I have bowls of tomatoes all over the kitchen - now got to think of something to do with all the beans  Possibly more chutney, as the freezers are pretty full. Need to check jar situation first though, as I don't think I have many...
  • Evening everyone

I've had my car heater on today when driving home from work!
Been in work all day; finally got my car bodywork repaired after a lady drove into my car in the hospital car park - looks much better but probably need to clean it now as the repaired bits look gleaming and the rest is grubby! Did a small shop in Mr M on way home and got a winter duvet for DD2 for uni - only £8 - & bought a bamboo mug for a friend's birthday for £2; plus some food supplies. Made veg hotpot for tea and made enough for tomorrow too. Just relaxing in socks and dressing gown and watching itv hub :)

Sorry to hear about your job ditty
CCL -glad party went well and like Dawn says you can freeze most things and I've frozen sandwiches before - nice that you've given your new sofa a proper test today too :)

Going to see if I can complete a SB survey before bed.....

Haven't had much chance to get on the forum but when I do 'debt free wannabe' is no where to be found so have to hunt!

CCL now that's my type of party-lots of leftovers but not the hangover!
CLF hope work hasn't been so stressy as u expected, there is nothing worse :(
    1LL belated happy anniversary.hope u had a lovely day :)
Toni's friend welcome :). It's a great thread that keeps me on the straight and narrow even though I haven't had chance to get on it much recently
ditty horrible news about the hours :(

Hugs to the poorlies or those just not feeling the best at the minute.
Real life has made life hard going so didn't have much chance to stay in my grumpy mood.
Post operation fatigue has been a killer, have really tried to work thru it. Found out today that the operation hasn't fully worked ( was warned) so not sure what will happen.

Claimed back monies owed from Plusn@t from when I changed providers
Banking and quidco checked daily-all good
Managed to get new washing machine sorted and plumbed in so need to sort out getting monies back after Currys refused to plumb it in.
Slowly catching up on the washing backlog using the 'eco' setting
Me and DD have been working really hard on have minimal food waste-working well so far
Convinced DD to use up last little bits in her lotions and potions instead of leaving them-so far so good
Raffle prizes all packed up ready to send to charity-all bargain items. I have space again!

Had a nice bank holiday with family. Family member wanted to go out for food. DD and I split the cost with puddings later so light on the pocket.

That's about it from me x

ditty sorry to hear about your hours. Hope you manage to get something else quickly.
Happykitties sorry your operation hasn't been fully successful, sounds like you've been busy too, make sure you rest up

Up early again thanks to an allergic reaction about 4am. So for the second time in 3 days, I'll be running on coffee :o I've been productive already. Here's my done/todo list:

Reconciled just for points credit card and requested a small limit increase, as we want to purchase an item we've saved for on the CC to get the points and security of paying with it. If approved, we'll buy it and pay it straight off as we always do these days
Expenses paid, so paid over to CC
Ordered something using a combination of vouchers and discount and should get £5 voucher back too
Need to see jam I made yesterday, it caught on the pan  so I'm not sure if it's edible. I also need to clean and save the pan. Must remember not to try and do 47 things simultaneously :rotfl:
    Added book to c wishlist
    Paint toenails
Try and squeeze in a run
Collect parcel from click and collect, have voucher for money off petrol for small spend so may do that whilst there too and then DH can fill up. Make shopping list first
    Collect prescription
Take some items back for a refund if I get chance, at least put in the car so they're out of the house.

Have a good day all Purps.

    Morning all :)
Hope you are ok Purps, 4am allergic reactions are not ok. Do you need to see your GP?
Sorry to hear that your surgery didn't work as well as hoped HK. Are there plans for further treatment?
Up early here too, as I didn't want my coughing to wake OH. A few things planned for today:
Need to do a smallish shop Done, went to Lidl. There were a couple of items I couldn't get there, predictably, but they will have to wait till next time. Did pick up a couple of jars of my fav instant coffee for a bargainous price though :)
Make tomato chutney to use up some of the tomato mountain - I only have a few plants grown in pots outside, so heaven knows how greenhouse owners are coping with this! The recipe only made a couple of jars, so will double it next time - except I am almost out of jars  I also made runner bean chutney (4 jars)
Pick French beans Done, blanched, frozen :T
See if anything wants watering (the French beans will, as they are in a pot too) Everything was dripping wet this morning so will leave till tomorrow
Pack and post an ebay item Done
List one of the dresses I ironed yesterday Not done
Must take some additional items to my sales unit while out - must get them out of the eaves cupboard and label them first though! Done
Put some stuff in a bag to take to the charity shop Done, and amazingly, OH, with only minimal nagging, went through his part of the wardrobe and put out a suit, a pair of trousers and a shirt that last fitted him more than 10 years ago, so 3 bags off to the CS, and gift aided :T

Forgot to pick up my prescription :(

Think about what to take away with us at the weekend foodwise - probably only going for one night this time. It is a weekend birthday party camping thing, only really going to be sociable, but we won't be staying for all 4 days  Prefer the quiet life! Decided to stay only 1 night, will sort food tomorrow in preparation for leaving Saturday morning.
Might make a cake in a minute though to get off to a start....

    Morning Frugalistas,
Bah! Had got big gardening plans but had forgotten I said I'd wait in for delivery of Mr F's new DMs. As I'd had a moan at him about this subject (covered that little conversation in my dfw diary), I can't very well not wait in for them, so I'm not making a list today. There are lots of things I could usefully do indoors, so I'm going to challenge myself to do absolutely as many tasks as I can by the time the delivery man knocks on the door. I think making it into a challenge instead of feeling annoyed about waiting in will motivate me.
HK - Sorry to hear the surgery hasn't entirely worked. I hope you're managing to keep your spirits up somehow. I'm defo with you on using up toiletries.... can't bear having stacks of bottles hanging around with only a tidsy bit of product left.
Ditty - Sorry about the unhelpful job news.
Purps & Dawn - Disturbed night here too. Couldn't get back to sleep as horrible fly bite on my leg was throbbing & couldn't get it comfortable. Then, having finally got back to sleep, two local moggies decided to have a loud verbal falling out right under our window. Went to see if our own furry was involved. He wasn't, so I'll be giving him a few cat treats today for staying out of trouble.
Ok, must start on my Challenge, just in case delivery man calls early.

    Morning all,

HK, sorry to hear that the op hasn't completely worked for you and thank you for the anniversary wishes :)

Its sounding very wet and wild out there at the minute, I need to be leaving for the gym in 5 mins so am going to get wet!

    Todays list
    * gym session and refill water bottle there done
    * rearrange freezer as yesterdays baking produced 36 muffins (using up too far gone bananas) as I want them frozen ready for packed lunches (Foxgloves, I read on your diary about "snap" thats a long forgotten term for me! When I started work at 16 I wondered what everyone was talking about! )
    * wash a load on the quick 30 degree wash done waiting for the weather to break in the hope that the weather improves this afternoon to hang out to try
    * make another curry for tonight, chicken and chickpea using a bag of dried chickpeas out of my use up box, this is a bag I claimed when we did the big clean up after our last tenant went back home. They had quite a few unopened bags of food.
    * check off just for points credit card - its a long one :(
    * check banking/update spreadsheet as I've gone wrong somewhere on it after not updating whilst on hols, it will probably be something really simple but I got annoyed looking at it and not finding my mistake last night so decided to abandon it and look again today with fresh eyes.
    * cut open the bottle of shampoo as I know there will be several days worth left in the bottom

Thats my starter, ds2 is going to a friends for the afternoon and ds1 is having a friend over so I'm acting as taxi for the afternoon. Hopefully I'll get more done once they're both sorted.
** made fried egg butties as a treat for breakfast (the kids thought it was a treat, I just wanted to use up some bread rolls from the freezer so it was a win-win!

    Take care all.
