I think it is harder once they are grown up.. you can't fix their problems with a lollipop and a hug! Trailed off to the market with Himself.
Wasn't impressed with what they had, and he lasted a full ten minutes before falling silent, trailing behind and becoming unable to contemplate buying food for more than one meal, especially without an exhaustive list prepared in advance, so after going into lidl by myself (he turned up in there five minutes later) I quit whilst I was ahead, bought a pint in the market pub where he muttered about what was wrong with me ordering everything online or him buying for each meal on the day just before food is required (which I term spending twenty quid a day and leaving it until I'm half fainting, have a pounding headache and not really in the mood for eating at 10pm) and we came home.
Sometimes he can be such hard work. I don't like shopping much either, but if I have to do it, then I want to get at least three days worth of all meals sorted at once, as that means I won't have to do it again for a while - with him there to carry stuff, I'd expect to be able to get a week's worth (he refuses point blank to go to a large supermarket and get a minicab back, so I can't get more than that), but apparently, no, that's not acceptable.
We have some food, though. Still no freezer bags, but I've already stuffed it all in the fridge to avoid it being left out to go off or entertain flies.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Morning all
I hung out a load of washing at 6.30 am - how did that happen? :rotfl:
(Haven't got a lot to show for the intervening period, though)

Morning :hello:
I have to share this :rotfl: DS gave me a birthday goodie bag which included two books. 'The Life Changing Magic of Tidying' by Marie Kondo - oooh, wow, great, that's how I sorted your sock drawer, and …. 'The Life Changing Magic of Not Giving a F@@k' by Sarah Knight  Guess which book I dived in to and was :rotfl: Oh my - I think he is now a little concerned that I might adopt the tenets of one book and not the other;):rotfl: I'm not usually keen on reading books filled with swear words - but ….
Woke up at 6, got up at 7, made my bed, had my morning cuppa opening cards & presents, ate breakfast, changed towels in bathroom, dashed down to let DS in, dashed back up, showered + hair washed, got dressed, opened DS's goodie bag … I'm buzzing and feeling blessed.
I hope you can all feel the love that I am sending out to you.

:bdaycake::bdaycake::bdaycake:Happy birthday Round
Enjoy your last year as a fifty-something. I start my last year soon  Time flies!
Decluttering grey locks in advance of my shower. Post plum processing the kitchen is decidedly sticky so that's a job for today.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

:bdaycake:Happy birthday Round! You're going great guns.
Freezers and fridge shuffled to the point where they are ready to accommodate two arrivals today, which has taken a week's work. Very glad it's done at long last.
Kitchen floor swept and swabbed, and everything that didn't move out of the way in there has been wiped down. The dog and kittens are all looking a bit alarmed. Two loads through the WM.
I'm really struggling with the boiler controls. It's a remote box of tricks and no matter how many times I've tried I can't figure out the Copy function. Why does everything have to be so complicated now?Better is good enough.0 -

Happy birthdays to all admitting to them!Jojo_the_Tightfisted wrote: »The plumber actually arrived today ... But he got here.
Then had to rescue said plumber from a large arachnid. I did wonder if working in dusty, cobwebby cupboards and under baths was really the right occupation for an arachnophobe, but at least it meant I could trap him in there until the tap was replaced just by bringing it back.
Forgive me, but sat here near weeping with laughter & taking notes on plumber wrangling.
First, find a suitably qualified arachnophobe, I think...0 -
