Tradesman wants paying on the same day

Tradespeople should be paid upon completion of a job unless their T&Cs state otherwise.
My plumber I pay the same day via bank transfer. My electrician sends an email invoice giving 14 days to pay. All others I have paid on the day.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
I've never not paid on the day of job completion with the exception of a plumbing emergency over a weekend where the plumber who is also a friend did a quick repair but was going away that day so said to pay him when he returned.0

I think it's unprofessional to charge for services the second they are delivered unless it's a small cash in hand job; 7-14 or 30 days is standard in business services.
But, he sets the payment terms, not you. So if you weren't savvy enough to agree payment terms upfront, pay him his dues.0 -
Even if he was desperate for money, that is not my fault, and I can't belive he can't wait until tomorrow or Sunday when I get paid so I can pay him
I owe him £400.
So you think it's his fault if he's 'desperate for money' and yet you haven't got £400 in savings to pay him?
Probably time to put an SOA up on the Debt-free Board and see what suggestions people can give you to reduce your outgoings so that you can build up an emergency fund.0 -
To be fair, when our painter completed each stage of the work (3 stages, with a couple of weeks in between) we paid him by immediate bank transfer while he was still packing up his gear.
We had agreed to pay £X before he started - so why dilly dally on satisfactory completion?0 -
After viewing the OP's other threads I would wager that there was always going to be a problem for this guy getting paid.0

I've usually paid tradespeople on completion of a job unless they had said they would send an invoice. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

He's probably a small sole trader thats fed up chasing people for overdue invoices.
Can't think of any reason you wouldn't pay a tradesman on completion, unless agreed in advance otherwise. I know I always have.
There's very little services you get on interest free credit.
If the work is to the desired standard, pay the man0 -

And another who thinks small businesses should provide a free line of credit.0 -
Most trades doing small works will get paid the same day by customers.
If they don't get paid the same day there's a high chance the customer is flakey and they'll never see their money.
Just pay the man, don't waste your time sitting on the Internet moaning that he wants paying for a job he did.... just pay him.
I'd have had cash in the house ready and paid him in cash there and then.
He'll not work for you again if you don't show you're willing and able to pay him when a job's done.0
