Happy friday night! I'm feeling pogged after lots of sweet treats... naughty but nice!
Well its official...! I'm an auntie to a beautiful little lady. My brother's wife gave birth yesterday afternoon and their little bundle of joy is home so I am well chuffed!
This week hasn't been too bad, I've applied for 5 new jobs, the first bounced back pretty much straight away but tbh i wasn't as interested in the working hours on that one. I've just done one of those aptitude tests for one of the roles. I have also made progress on completing a local authority application template for a job in a school. The schools around here use the same template, I just struggle to know the correct words to use as I am career changing. Anyway I am pleased I have made a bit more progress on this. My plan is to have one completed one which i can use as a template for future applications. One has come up with a deadline for monday lunchtime. I'm working this weekend so sadly this wont happen for me this time but at least its a step in the right direction.
I've also batch cooked meals for the weekend and whilst today was dry I spent some time on the veggie plot in the garden. Most of my pea seeds didn't germinate - probably because of the deluge of water since they were sown a couple of weeks ago. Anyway one pea plant was growing and I've put fresh seeds down for the rest. I also had broad bean seeds as well which I have now planted and need to do my research for seeds to plant in October
This weekend im working as usual and will be working on tuesday as overtime (no hitches me hopes!)2025 financial goals & challenges!

Happy monday,
Well first thing to say is that I feel dreadful - really knackered lack of sleep feeling. yuk! not the day i was hoping for. Yesterday at work my energy levels slumped at 3.30 and that was it. Tired ever since, tomorrow I have to be better as its overtime day and i can't not make the overtime!
Well I bought flowers for my bro and his wife - they were £38 and my family are chipping in. I'm a bit reluctant to take money from them as they have helped a bit financially but they know im broke so I'll just see how they get on. The cupboards and fridge are looking empty but just got to keep going for a few more days and then next week I can do a proper shop.
I was disappointed by the news that First Direct are reducing their regular saver rates. I have had mine with them for years. I'll probably carry on recycling the money with them but a worrying trend - hopefully this is all short term as I want to grow my money to eventually buy my own place.2025 financial goals & challenges!

Have you looked at a LISA or help to buy for your savings instead?1

Happy sunny wednesday
Hi Moguline - I wish I could get a LISA but sadly as I am already (on paper) a homeowner I don't qualify for the home version. I do however have the pension version which is open as a stocks & shares one which I put the odd bit of spare cash in. I'm eagerly keeping an eye on the savings accounts as my Nationwide reg saver is maturing at the end of this month and I'm hoping to move banks to M&S to qualify for the M&S reg saver but who knows when this will be pulled!
I've picked up the bug the kids had last week and have been feeling mega tired since sunday, yesterday was my overtime shift at work which i ended up dragging myself around on but yay! completed it!! So I'll get at some extra cash this month. It won't be much but the extra money will be shared between my regular credit card and the mini balance on one of my 0% balance transfer cards. That amount needs to be paid by beginning of Jan and I think the outstanding balance is roughly £600 so I will that is my first debt goal alongside watching my general spending.
I was really lucky on sunday to get a few bits of clothes and toys from one of my lovely friends at work. She is relocating to Norfolk with her family. She has two boys just a couple of years older than mine and she was very happy to declutter and I was grateful to receive. The toys I have decided to wrap up for my youngest as part of his christmas presents so this has been a wonderful boost. I am trying this year to make it a sustainable and thoughtful as I can so recycling toys is brilliant!
After last week's job 5 job applications I've sadly heard nothing! Yesterday I contacted one recruitment agency I had registered with years ago (they remembered my maiden name!) they have two potential opportunities of interest. Location and hours better with one but I don't think I quite match the experience and the other one is longer hours and further commute but more my background. I'll put myself forward for both of the roles though as I think nothing ventured nothing gained. I'm going to finish my diary entry, have a quick nap (i'm sleepy this week) and then will do a bit of studying this afternoon.
I'm soooo close to new credit card month, so for the next couple of days I'll not be upto much just lying low.2025 financial goals & challenges!

Hello Friday,
I wanted to post yesterday for World Mental Health day but I was busy and didn't get my chance. I think its pretty obvious from previous posts that I am currently struggling with mild depression and anxiety. I've had some tough situations to work through the big ones was becoming a parent, taking time off to raise my kids, a very close bereavement, my marriage ending and money worries which has lead me to getting in debt and for the early part of 2018 I was on a destructive cycle. My world fell apart I stopped watching the spending and my eating was out of control and lots of other not good stuff. Anyway slowly I started ironing myself out and fast forward to now, things are improving in baby steps. I don't want this post to be based on self pity, no this is a positive message that things can and will get better. I've not yet found the golden job but I am starting to get a handle on my finances - a lot of which have been out of my control, I'm slowly loosing the weight i put on and I am trying to get a career going. I started this diary to help me channel my thoughts into one place and giving me the kick to carry on.
So this week so far I have sent my CV off to another 4 jobs, spent a bit of time working on my linkedin profile, yesterday was my day volunteering which was a bit of a waste of time as the lady I work with is on a long holiday & nothing else was arranged. So I used the time to study for my first accountancy exam and spooked myself with lots of stuff I didn't know! Oh and one day overtime too!
Outside of workstuff I have brought my bike from my ExH house and to my flat so that is exciting - I've not actually used it since the eldest was a baby. So its a bit cobwebby and needing a good clean.
On the vegetable patch I re-dug it up last week because of the crazy amounts of rain to investigate the pea shoots. Only one survived anyway I have put more pea shoots down and replanted the one shoot. I also planted broad bean seeds in the patch too so now we have peas and broad beans in the veggie patch. I also ordered one of those netting plant tents to protect from birds which arrived yesterday and will be put out today - small steps
Today I need to do a bit of food shopping for next week and will make more yummy soup and give the fridge a good clean whilst it is empty.
Have a good day everyone2025 financial goals & challenges!

Peas won't grow this time of year, sorry...pop them in in April/May and you'll be fine. Broad beans will be great in now and will slowly come up for some early spring pods. You could get some winter salad leaves in."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.1

Well its a late saturday night and I am home from work and I feel knackered! Long day shift, glad its over lol. Got the bus home saved a couple of quid. I'm now on a shiny new credit card month and yesterday did my much needed food shop which was just over £50. My partner ended up sharing the cost of the groceries. He is try to do his bit for his stubborn woman lol.
I have work tomorrow - yet another round trip on the bus and then home to prepare for an interview on monday. I'd like this job but think its probably a bit out of my field of experience but you never know. All interview experience is useful.2025 financial goals & challenges!

Happy late monday,
Theme of today is tiredness - I've felt tired all weekend and all day today. I had my interview this morning which I wasnt best prepared for. It sucks working weekends and having an interview first thing monday morning as I just had no time to prepare. Anyway I gave it my best shot so here goes. I should find out late this week but I just dont think it was my time...
My youngest is ill again and tomorrow its overtime day so my partner will look after him, sadly mummy has to work. I can't risk not going in as I will loose overtime in the future and I really do need the cash.
Tonight at my monthly women's club we had were crafting terraniums... really great fun and for me its a cheap social activity.
Right better get my bum to bed... its a night on the sofa with the pooly one2025 financial goals & challenges!
