  • Good Morning Thursday,

Breakfast has  been a mini treat for the past couple of days. Having had a few ripe avocados and some eggs which needed using up I've been enjoying poached eggs on toast with smashed avo. Delicious and diet friendly! Have to admit I ate badly at my mums and its not done my diet any good.

So so far today one load of washing done and is out drying and sausages for dinner are defrosting as we speak. I have some pears which are turning so going to make a crumble with them I think along with some other fruits. Last night was looking at recipes to make good use of the courgettes so thinking of making courgette cake which is kinda like a carrot cake. Lets see how it goes!

Thankfully got a good nights sleep and no twitching eyes so far which is such a welcome relief. Need to review my budget and expenses. The kids need some new clothes for September and I need to get a list together of decorating stuff needed for next trip upto investment house. Going to take full advantage of delivery services and get everything delivered in advance.

Right better go as the kids need to get dressed and get ready for a bit of home schooling. Today we are attempting a bit of English grammar... wish me luck!

Good luck with the school work, we are well into school holiday mode here, no work being done at all!

  • Thanks @Drawingaline, we are only really doing one 1hr / 2 pages from English workbook. I worry just stopping wont do my kid any good as he is reluctant as it is. I think he likes the time though spent with me one to one and we get to have some discussions so I know he is getting something out of it.

Today the weather is lovely, a bit too hot if anything but we actually quite like being inside. Yesterday was a nice day, we completed some home schooling and I tried to teach the kids to play a card game. Started on clock version of patience but couldn't quite remember the rules.. lol mad as I used to play a lot as a child. Anyway You tube to hand and all was sorted. Will look for more card games this weekend as it was nice to do an activity both kids could join in with. The kitchen was a right mess after making fruit crumble yesterday, it tasted delicious though and will feed OH this weekend at work.

Today's jobs were to make a face mask, do some cross stitch and hunt around for mixed spice. Need this for the courgette cakes. Also next week planning to camp so need sleeping mats.

My Nan taught me to play clock patients, like you I used to play it and many other card games when I was a child. I've taught both of mine to play.

I love card games, one of my best things I've inherited from my grandparents, that and a love of reading newspapers! Shuffling cards is also turning into a good stress reliever too!

So last night I finally ordered 3 air mattresses (£20 each) for our tent after going around in circles trying to work out the best options for us. We are a family of 4 trying to squeeze into a small tent, its now I wish I could drive as we are limited on what we can carry. Anyway so this week we are planning a fairly easy overnight camping trip at a camp site near to home. They have proper washing facilities so we should be ok on that point. It'll be an interesting experience and I still am missing some of the kit, some of it is at exH house so hoping he'll give me the things I have asked for. Fingers crossed. Really want to avoid unnecessary spending.

Today I still need to go out for my daily run - I have been wearing the exercise watch for a week now and really enjoying the daily challenge to get in 10,000 steps. Last night I was out in the garden getting in the last 1500 steps while the kids were in bed! What must the neighbours have thought?! Weekends are a bit more tricky to get out to the park as partner works nights so sleeps (in theory) during the day. He's awake now so going to get out after I have written my post. Weight loss doesn't seem to be happening, started loosing a bit but then it goes on again and i'm deflated again. I have the couch to 10k app on my phone as I was into this last year so today going to bite the bullet and try it again.

Jobs wise today I have already completed a bit of work on the cross stitch - the kids were happily playing upstairs so meant I could watch a bit of tv in peace and work on it. Bliss! Face mask to make and courgette cake to make with the kids. I need to take them out when partner goes back to bed to give him a chance at a bit of sleep. Tomorrow is driving lesson so highway code book is calling tonight too.. its all go!

  • Just sat and read your whole dairy in one go. I really enjoyed it. Although childless we made a move down to Surrey June 2019 for a job for me. Which has been one of the hardest years of mine and my partners lives. We are both in debt but I needed this job to further my career. We are slowly paying things off but there are always new and unexpected expenses. I also really want to buy a house and very, very slowly saving for a deposit. Your dairy just resonates with me and you are so positive. Good luck with your driving lessons and accountancy studies.

  • Don't normally write two diary entries a day but today has just been one of those crap days when I wish the kids were at their dads. In part its not their fault as they haven't gone anywhere or done anything fun. For the sake of everyone's sanity will have to take them out somewhere tomorrow. Not sure what yet though. Maybe to the bigger park or something.

I had to take the small two out today, going a little stir crazy!

Clock patience, haven't played that in years. Four cards face down at all clock points and four in middle. Turn over one in middle and start from there.

  • Happy to report the day is going a bit better than yesterday...so far!

This morning I've had a bit of peace again and managed a bit more time on the cross stitch. This particular cross stitch was bought on holiday in Norway a couple of years ago and has slowly worked on. I do enjoy doing these but they take me an age to do as I pick up and put down and there can be months between stitching. I have a mini mountain of books to read and find after a while I can't read anymore so this complements it.

As mentioned yesterday we are planning a camping trip this week, just one night at a local campsite. So I booked our pitch this morning and today I have air mattresses arriving and need to order hard ground pegs and collect camping gear from ex H.

Spending atm is a bit out of control but I tend to find in the summer holidays it does go mad and then come Sept it starts to quiet down. This year has been strange as I normally find I spend more between April and Sept and 'hibernate' between Sept and March but with lock down hibernation went on much longer so now currently just enjoying letting go of the budget shackles and letting my hair down. I have my divorce money through too so just enjoying it. The works needed on the investment property do worry me a bit though as quite a lot needs to be done but it is an investment so short term pain will payback later. Plus because of family links to the area it is situated in I am if all goes to plan to keep it for the long term as a possible holiday home later.

Right better get on and get the kids dressed!
