Hey Clarissa, you’re sounding super positive! So well done on the driving lesson, I know how hard doing something like that must have been, I’m so glad it went well. And running without music is super hard so well done you! You really are being amazingly productive. And paying off 21%! That’s awesome. Keep up the great work.
  • Well done on the driving lesson. My husband never passed his test and it has limited him a bit. Made looking for a new job when he was unemployed harder, and in normal times he has to take two trains to work.

Thanks @Drawingaline I have found distance to jobs and not being able to drive a problem too. First lesson wasnt so bad just more my nerves being the problem!

  • Not quite sure what was going on this morning but I got up when my alarm went off (5.45am) and concentrated on a bit of the accounts study. Slowly it is making sense which is motivating and then went out for a run.

Yesterday managed to get some maths and English done with the eldest and youngest we watched a bit of jolly phonics. I got a bit of work on the computer so reasonably productive.

This afternoon gave the garden a good tidy and enjoyed a bbq for tea.

Oh and also found out I am officially divorced! eek! Back to being an official single lady! yikes!

Congratulations on being officially divorced Clarissa!!!! It’s a weird but liberating feeling isn’t it. Celebrate! I actually opened a bottle of champagne I’d been saving for the past 5 years when I became divorced! Big hugs lovely x

Funnily enough with we had a bbq and some bubbles to 'celebrate'. Bit of an odd one but we celebrated just there here and now.

  • Good Morning,

I'm having one of those mornings where its costing me a fortune! My phone which was an old handset from my now ex h isn't working properly so i've had to upgrade to a new handset! Eeek so not much change from £500 but will use it till it dies. Its eldest kids birthday in a next couple of weeks so need to get him his bday gifts and I had various items in virtual shopping basket to buy. All in all yeah bit of a spending spree day. I do acknowledge I'm a tight northerner so this is painful, cold sweats, rash etc.

Today is last day of term and the plan is to meet up with some friends in the park with their kids which will be great.

Yesterday I was in one of those moods just to eat crap - not done my diet any good but sometimes you just need to do it.

Right I have a bit of time before picking up the kids so will crack on with study and cooking sausages for OH for work.

My diet hasn't been great this week, stress due to house going up for sale! Really hoping it will all be sorted one way or another by Wednesday so I can get back to it.

  • Not quite sure where my head is at but can't sleep and just not in the greatest state of mind so sat at the computer with a herbal tea and humming the new Erasure song. Feeling like I need a perk me up. Right I will stop feeling sorry for myself and enjoy my cuppa.

  • For the past few nights sleep (or the lack of it!) has become a problem.Tired but can't break the cycle, maybe its because its hot and sunny i just dont know.

So since last diary entry which was on Saturday I must admit I am being un money saving and spending a bit of cash. I think I've been so frugal and its caught up on me. So the big spends were the new mobile phone. This was needed as one or two of the buttons have gone on current handset. Bought the brand of phone I like but one of the older and cheaper models which was £461 and also invested in screen protector and back plate. I'm a dopey mare at the best of times and really don't want to drop it. i also bought kids birthday present, highway code, this months bookclub book oh and one of those watches that records your steps etc. Having getting stuck into running again I wanted to record the distance and speed so trying one of  the cheaper 'garmin' type watches.

Yesterday we ventured out for our first family day trip since lockdown. Went on the cable car and had to take public transport as a current non driver. This was fun, it was a gorgeous sunny day so could see for miles. Then after the round trip we had a home brought picnic and went for a walk. It was a brilliant day out. Apart from the cost of travel, cable car itself we bought individual ice creams from the shop. I was trying to make this a bit cheaper by buying a box of ice creams but couldn't find them until I was paying for them. They were cleverly hidden at the back of the shop! I will definitely be heading to the back of the shop next time as we love ice cream in our family.

Today is an easy day at home. Need to get some groceries for this week - mainly picnic supplies for family day trip tomorrow. Going out on the train again to venture another part of London. My partner's work pass lets us in to some attractions for free so we are going to make the most of it during the holidays.

Hope everyone else is having a good day.

  • Hello Wednesday,

It's been an interesting few days. I've been away visiting family and had a 'try before you buy' property test drive! Not ever done this before but I got to stay in the property I am potentially going to buy as an investment. So exciting times on this. Property needs some modernisation so this will keep me busy in the latter part of this year.

So while I was away spending was more than normal as we were eating out a bit more and more money was spent on travel etc but was fun. Also to my horror had to order a headphone adaptor for new phone as this one doesn't take regular headphones. Can't run without music in, hate listening to my 'out of breath' breath.

Today was a fairly straightforward day, we just enjoyed being at home. Had to use a bit of bribery to get eldest to do a bit of school work. He's still as reluctant but I want to do a bit with him when he is with me. His dad isnt the greatest at doing this without pestering. Spent a bit of time in the garden giving it a bit of a tidy up and harvested some of the courgettes from the veggie plot. Wow they are looking great. Need some fab recipes to go with them now. MSE wise today was monthly bill paying time, glad I got that ticked off.
