How can it be Monday again?! I have actually been looking forward to today as the kids are with their dad and I get a bit of time to do the things I need to do. Last week was a bit of an eye opener for very good reasons. The course I am studying, one of the study centres ran a week long online festival with lots of talks and presentations and its been a really big boost. So with that increased motivation I really wanted to knuckle down but this weekend the kids had better ideas and have been fighting and winding each other up a lot so study was near impossible unless they were sleeping hence early starts and late night study eeek!
Over the weekend I did a lot of batch cooking including spaghetti bolognese for my partner for work, a cottage pie and fruit crumble as we had a glut of courgettes, big pack of beef mince and some potatoes that were sprouting so this turned out well. I still have lots of courgettes so toying with making soup with the rest of them. With the kids we had fun making food dyes from vegetables and then tie dying some white t shirts, creating a salt dough hand print for lock down memories and making crystals with the crystals kit. It reads all good mummy stuff but I think its a bit of a mum panic as we haven't done much compared to some families during lock down. It'd be interesting though to see what other activities we could do at home or locally. So will bookmark this as a job to do.
Back to today, the main job is to continue where I left off with the books last night. I need to go for a run and the flat is due a proper clean so will look at that too. Have a nice day everyone.

Hey Clarissa how are you? Have you had a good week?1

Hello @missymoo81 and what a damp squid thursday is! Just come back from a week in the investment property to a very wet London. This week was pretty busy we have been stripping wallpaper, had numerous workmen around to quote for various bits of work which the property needs before it can be rented out. I wasn't sure how much replacing the windows, front door plus an internal sliding door would be as I only compare to work I have had done on previous property in London. I was pleasantly surprised that it came in under my estimate by over 1K which is brilliant. We've hired the company, booked the installation dates and tomorrow I need to pay the deposit. Tomorrow I need to update spreadsheets and budgets for the property too.
Studying hasn't gone too bad - progress was a bit slow on holiday but that's to be expected. Still plugging away and should be easier now we are back home. I ate like a queen on holiday so diet starts tomorrow, the home made courgette soup which I made and froze before the holiday I have one portion defrosting for tomorrow.
The kids are still on holiday with their dad -they get back on Sunday and I have to admit I am really missing them now, being away in the investment property has been a great distraction. This week I got lucky and managed to pick up some clothes for the older one from one of the supermarkets in the sale so I can now actually clothe my kid. Its funny, before we went away I went through eldest wardrobe, picked out the small stuff and was basically left with an empty wardrobe. This has been a bit of a kick up the bum and I think he will be pleasantly surprised! This weekend I need to do the same for the young one and he has the opposite problem. Too many clothes in his wardrobe as he is hand me down kid so I'm sorting the sizing out in his wardrobe to make it more manageable. My other big task for September is sorting out the boys bedroom - too much clutter.

Another bad nights sleep - hoping this will pass soon. I think the looming job hunt is plaguing my mind so a bit of self care is needed and a bit of planning. I would really like to get a new laptop for job applications, study and general stuff. I've been looking for a few weeks and can't decide whether its worth spending a bit more to get a bit better one or go mid range. The one I want is 1k mark but sensible head says go for cheaper one. Its a real treat, not something I buy often so want to make the right choice. I like the look of the 2 in 1 ones.
Yesterday went food shopping for mainly a bit of fruit and salad stuff, bought eldest kid some swimming shorts in the sale for £3.50 and young one some socks for £5.50 so a couple of jobs ticked off. I have lots of food in the freezer so going to start using it up. The soup was nice yesterday for lunch and had a nice salad with veggie balls for dinner. Yum. Today I've got homemade shepherds pie to cook (made & frozen before going on holiday) for late lunch for me and to portion out for OH for work.
As for yesterdays other tasks the deposit on the windows has now been paid and electrician booked in. Next week need to sort out the plumber.
Today I need to tackle some study, reading up highway code for tomorrows driving lesson, out for a run, and update costs spreadsheet for the investment property. So better go a crack on with it! Have a nice day everyone - hopefully today will bring some good habits so I can sleep tonight (Hopefully)
