Hi Saturday evening, its been a relatively productive day. Didnt go out for a run - frankly wasnt in the mood which isnt the right mood to be in i know but hey ho! Went for a walk though which was nice - ventured to a local park which I've not been to for a while which was good. Its high on a hill and get a good view of London. The park is very much in the autumn reds, greens and browns. Beautiful time of year.
I've tackled the investment property expenses spreadsheet, done an online quote for carpets and also investigated getting underlay separately from the carpet shop. I remember exH did this in our old house and it saved a bit of money. Ordered a sample of underlay which I think will be suitable so waiting for this to be delivered this week. Study hasnt happened today - just wasnt in the mood. Tomorrow I will do some.

Hey Clarissa, poor you, I’m so sorry you’ve not been sleeping. I haven’t been sleeping either, it makes you feel so grumpy and sluggish doesn’t it. Well done for the walk and on the sale clothes. I need to get May a new swimming costume, so may check the sales, thanks for the reminder. Sounds like you’re coming on a long way with the investment property. Well done!
hmmm I’m not much help on the laptop front I’m afraid. I have a MacBook and love it but it’s old 2014, and still need my old windows laptop sometimes. But I know what you mean about a 2in1 ones. I’d probably go for one of those if I was buying one right now.2 -
@missymoo81 don't think you could have put it any better. Hopefully things improve for the better for the both of us soon.
I definitely could have done with a couple more hours sleep but it wasn't so bad a night but the other nights lack of sleep is catching up on me. Well I am up and sat at my desk with a cuppa so in my books this is a good start to the day. I did do something yesterday which I am pleased about. I signed up for a virtual run / walk challenge. This one is a yr long virtual challenge to do the mileage from Lands end to John O'Groats and starts September. It looks a lot of fun and I am doing it to get my butt out the door everyday and do some exercise. Told my partner all about it and surprisingly he signed up too so we are both excited to get going. So one of today's tasks is to get Strava account set up and the other bits and pieces so we are ready to go on Tuesday.
Later today its next driving lesson. We were tackling roundabouts last time so I suspect more of that. I don't like roundabouts. There are however some good videos on you tube to watch on this subject so will plan a bit of time in for this as well. Definitely need to get in a run today, headphones were delivered yesterday so no excuses!2025 financial goals & challenges!

Oh well done! Signing up to a challenge really helps and headphones definitely keep me going whenever I want to do any exercise.

I was supposed to do a sponsored walk in May. Was all inspired before lockdown. Annoyingly none of the virtual ones appeal, I wanted to work towards an actual event. Due my refund next week. I am hoping to up my walking now the weather is less hot though.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉1

What a difference a day makes! Yesterday was a lot better and my mood picked up. Went out for a run, did some studying and had the driving lesson.
The kids are back from holidays with dad and with me now for a week. This has def cheered me up, suspect I was missing them. Anyway chaos has been restored and the weekly battle to get the kids quiet during the day while my partner slept was well and truly in action today.
Went to the park with the kids and bumped into a parent from my eldest kids class - was interesting chatting to him. Loosing my job this year has been gutting and for a long time I have struggled with not letting myself spiral into a dark place because my former career has flopped (since kids) and I'm not really sure what is out there for me in the future. The conversation was nice but tricky because trying to explain to someone with a steady life they just don't understand. I've had a lot of change in the past three years with separating from my now ex H and effectively starting again, moving house twice, trying to get a career going again and it not succeeding (as yet) and just going through divorce. As we were casually talking about the summer and work situation he was surprised I haven't been job hunting and my answer (to myself) was I just wanted to be kind to myself and give me a bit of breathing space to process everything and just enjoy the time with my family which I am so very glad I have done. So as tomorrow moves into September, autumn is in the air and schools are close to opening for my family I am actually feeling more positive towards the next challenges that life brings. I do need to find work and bring in some income and I want to start sitting exams for my home studies.
Happy 31st August everyone.2025 financial goals & challenges!

So we have reached the 1st of September and 8am and I am the only person awake in my home at the moment. So while the house is peaceful I am sat down and doing a bit of study. Once the troops are up that is it, peace is broken but being honest I'm loving the chaos atm!2025 financial goals & challenges!

Well the kids and OH are in bed. Kids sleeping pattern out of sync for school - eeek!
Today was reasonably productive. Paid for some books I bought eldest to read - he is typical reluctant boy reader so thought i'd try getting a second hand bundle of different books for boys for him to read. This cost me £20 and get 20 books so good value as will last him a while. His bro will grow into them too so all good. Managed to get a date fixed in the diary for the plumber to do essential works to investment property. No luck chasing up kids swimming lessons as yet and also had an unexpected call from job centre which threw me off balance this afternoon when I was on my run of all things. Timing couldn't have been worse! So my run just didn't happen. This was not the start I was expecting from my virtual run walk challenge on day 1! Anyhow the first 2.8 miles are in the bag, only 800+ to do.

Hello Saturday,
So since last post I've been a bit under the weather with first cold of the season. Normally these just wash over me but this week I have felt lousy. This was not the start to my new run / walk challenge I was expecting. I've hit 12 miles so far so not too bad even with the cold.
Not really been upto much apart from this. I've booked the kids swimming lessons, paid for a revision session for my accounts course and contacted the exam centre to book my first exam. Not yet had confirmation but will chaise up next week. I guess with covid everything is a lot slower.
Budgeting wise I've re-set up the receipts apps. I was using these but tbh I got lazy and stopped using them in the summer and when my phone switched over last month i just didn't bother to activate them. Well they are now active and will get better at using them.
With the job hunting I'll be honest and say this is a difficult one. I'm going to have to look for work outside of what I have done before so need to focus some time on working out transferable skills and am thinking about volunteering whilst looking.2025 financial goals & challenges!
