  • Kind of sad that this is the first year my kids are both in high school so no concerts or fairs or anything! But also glad that we're not expected to buy anything either, I have brought for some volunteers that help me every weekend and I think 89p for a box of biscuits is not too bad.

Great news on the debt busting and will be cheering you on to get to that 40k!

Under £40K by June sounds a great target to aim for. You seem really on form this time. I am having a bit of a wobble with all the xmas expenses - and it starts a bad habit again as it encourages spending and looking at wants not needs... I need to get back in the right mindset.

  • Evening all. Had a lovely quiet Christmas and the kids were happy with their Santa gifts. H got another bonus so am still dithering over how best to use it. I am dying to consolidate the two loans but also want to put aside some money for the plane tickets to Oz as I don't want to add to my debt.

Glad Xmas went well. Hope your new year goes as well too. Have you worked out your budget for Oz and how long it is likely to take to save up for it?

We should be able to pay for the flights (or most of them) upfront and then aim to buy a tour/accommodation each month or save between 500-1000.

Happy New Year everyone. Had a lovely NYE with the kids and some friends. Back to reality now from Monday onwards. Managed to achieve my aim of getting under 50k by the 1st Jan. In fact I am now under 49k!!! I am getting closer to joining the 2 loans together and can't wait as then I can really start snowballing the credit cards.

Woohoo to breaking though another barrier. You sound organised on your holiday plans too.

Have a fab new year. I am back to the grindstone on Monday too. I think though that with structure more gets done. It's been lovely having the break though.
