Jack it up and put some baking trays underneath the wheels. Will make it a lot easier to move elsewhere! ;)

    Or torch the !!!!!!! :D

Burgeking trays are actually better for this than baking trays ;)

Your council DOES have powers to remove an abandoned vehicle on private land according to this link.

Unfortunately most probably won't want to spend money to do so unless its causing a hazard to kids playing etc.

Just do it yourself, or pay a recovery firm to move it.

BTW, are all you hotheads going on about torching it or damaging it serious, or are you just recommending stuff that you'd never dare to actually do in reality? ;)
  • How much tax is left on the car? Is there any way of cashing it in?

If so just smash a window and nick it. Worst you'll get is a caution and the owner would have to sue you seperately for any damage (Don't you love the law?)

Then you could use the proceeds to get it moved!!

If it was on my drive, I'm sure it would be a risk to my kids bumping into it, otherwise, if I didn't have kids, maybe my sister, brother or friends kids might bump into it, thus causing themselves harm. As the LA has an opportunity to act on this, they might become liable if they failed to act?
In the meantime, get the owner details via DVLC - i belive the forms are available at the Cop Shop.

Does this happen often? Supermarket car parks must be a nightmare for them ;)

For reasons not having want to proceed with a long story. My car was parked in the space alloted to a house that my dad owned. He sold the house but failed to mention this too me. I got a letter from the council stating that the owners of the property wished to use the space currently occupied and would i mind moving said car if i didn't the the police would deem the vehicle abadomed and tow said car to a secure compound which i could pick up later but would incur costs. For this reason i say someone in highway and planning department of the council is telling !!!!!!!! it is their remit to remove the car or inforce removal of said car by informing the owner of said vehicle. By the way they also will incur the costs of removal and the rental at the secure compound;) .

  • why does everyone always assume the worst?

*list of reasonable excuses that have just come to my head in last 30 seconds*

-owner, is a visitor in the block, has been taken ill and has been in hospital for last 3 months
    -owner has died
-owner, has been wrongly informed that he/she could park there
-vehicle has been stolen from another location, and then dumped by the thieves in said parking space, owner has not reported (wont bore everyone with hypothetical reasons why)

Why have so many people looked at this post and immediately suggested committing some sort of criminal act?....whether its ringing up and making false allegations to Police?....committing criminal damage or theft, i dont see the point.
It's quite simple. Either organise its removal yourself, report it to the council as an abandoned vehicle and let them deal, or contact the freeholder/management company and let them deal
