Perhaps someone in your block owns it but just hasn't admitted to it. How about you stick a bloody big "forsale" sign on the car and see if anyone panics and moves it. or start stripping it and sell the parts on ebay!
seriously though, same happened to a colleague. he phoned the factor/management agent for the block and they delt with everything and got it shifted.0 -
If you own the flat, how come you have a landlord? Just a bit confused.Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000

I agree with PasturesNew - I would just push it into the road. It shouldn't be in your space. A bit like someone just turning up and squatting in your spare bedroom sort of thing.0

I own a flat with a private parking space and someone has abandoned their car in it. It has been there for approximately 3 months and I have been advised by my Landlord and Police that I cannot do anythign about it as it has road tax. I have left notes but the car isn't used and the notes are still left under the wipers. I have asked in all of the flats but no-one claims to own the car. Is there anything I can do to get this car moved? I am renting out the flat and have a couple about to move in on Monday but they won't move in until the parking space is made available. Does anyone have any ideas?

Discocat are you sure you haven't got an alterego called Prof Plum or Rev Green?
A few months ago there was a 5 page thread (see here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=534943&highlight=abandoned )
along very similar lines (someone had left a car on his driveway) started by Col Mustard/Mastard!
The debate raged for ages... hundreds of posts long. Many posters were all for illegal and/or aggresive solutions, some suggested 'softly, softly' .... there were many others in between! I'm sure if you read the thread you'll find a solution you like. In case you're interested, in the end it turned out someone had parked there by mistake thinking it was their Grandad's drive!
Good luck and hope your problem gets sorted soon.“A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.”

Getting a sense of deja vu, mate?
OP, I take it your space is allocated and is clearly defined in the lease of your flat? If so, then the space is your private land, and the car is trespassing on it.
Since trespass is a civil matter, it has nothing to do with the police or council, its a dispute between you and the car owner. If you get in touch with the DVLA you can probably apply to get the address of the owner since you have a valid reason.
You also enjoy the right to forcibly eject a trespasser from your land under the common law, though be careful not to cause any damage, you don't want to get sued yourself. I'd suggest a final note stating the car will be removed to x in n days...and then either move it yourself or pay someone else to do so. Leave it as close as possible but not where it is causing an obstruction.
If the space is owned by the freeholder, but you just have the exclusive right to park there, its still trespass, but arguably its the freeholder's responsibility. I'd just shift it anyway, personally.
Don't have it scrapped...that would probably be considered theft, i.e. the intent to permanently deprive the lawful owner of it.
P.S. Where have you been parking for the last 3 months? You clearly have more patience than me!0 -

This wouldn't work, however.
You could tell the police you have seen this car doing 2 MPH over the speed limit.
The armed response unit would be there in minutes.
EDIT for typos0
