Taxed car abandoned in my parking space - Can't rent out flat until it is removed!!

I own a flat with a private parking space and someone has abandoned their car in it. It has been there for approximately 3 months and I have been advised by my Landlord and Police that I cannot do anythign about it as it has road tax. I have left notes but the car isn't used and the notes are still left under the wipers. I have asked in all of the flats but no-one claims to own the car. Is there anything I can do to get this car moved? I am renting out the flat and have a couple about to move in on Monday but they won't move in until the parking space is made available. Does anyone have any ideas?

Who owns the parking space?
If the LL, what does your agreement say about it?Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
Get a couple of hefty guys and some trolley jacks... lift it up ... shove it over to somebody else's and park your car there .... then scuttle off.0

Do you know any large strapping lads to come and help you bounce it out of the space? Seriously, leave it in the middle of the street and the council will soon do something about it then. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

Could you get it towed away??? If it has been there for all this time then clearly the owner doesn't care what happens to it. I'm shocked that the council won't agree to get rid of it as it is technically illegally parked as it's on your private property. I agree that getting some strapping lads to jack it up and move it might be the best idea. If you leave it abandoned by the side of the road the council are bound to change their tune.0

Wonder if it's insured?...you could always 'see' someone breaking into it and call the local police. Eventually they'll send someone round and run checks on it. If it is not both taxed AND insured, it is not a legal on the road vehicle....or ring DVLA direct and advise them by giving the reg plate, they can check if it insured and might be able to help get it shifted.
Alternatively....get the boys in but I seem to remember some stuff about doing this kind of thing amounting to 'criminal damage' if the car is marked in any way so the owner may get poked off and try to sue you if you do move it!
I'd go for the concerned motoris bit myself and ring DVLA direct. The only thing to do with good advice is to pass it on. It is never of any use to oneself. (Oscar Wilde);)0 -
Can you put a notice in the local paper about an apparently abandoned car left at x (Private Property), and if it's not removed by yy/yy/yy the space owner (eg you!) will arrange for it's removal?
Often see similar things in our local paper put in by boat yards / yacht clubs about boats on their premises (either uncollected repairs or Club dues not paid, I guess).
Hopefully someone will know the legal reference for this ? :j:D:beer::eek::A:p:rotfl::cool::):(:T0 -

But it's not on the road or being driven so it does not require insurance.
This is really tricky one. There are loads of unofficial ways of doing something about it, most of which have been mentioned in this thread. But you should be careful about any of these options as the owner is bound to pop up out of the wood work once the thing gets shifted.
I would get advice from the CAB (Citizens Advice) first off and see what they say. Next I would check your 'ownership' of the space. Is it actually just attributed to you by the management company for the flats or is it actually a bit of land that is owned by you? I doubt the latter is true so it is therefore owned by the freeholder, if it is large complex with a management company and ground rent to pay then I think they will have some responsability to help. If it was me I might consider withholding all or part of my ground rent and service fees. After all, this is simply a service that is offered by the freeholder/management company which you cannot currently take advantage of.
Anyway, I hope this helps and you get things sorted soon.

This is all you have to do.
They will come round with a hiab and just take it away.

#1. The people that run these "sell your house and rent back" companies are generally lying thieves and are best avoided
#2. This time next year house prices in general will be lower than they are now
#3. Cheap houses are a good thing not a bad thing0
