Repairing damage to a new vehicle is quite normal, and is often carried out by the "Finished Vehicle Logistics" contractor such as this one:-

A friend of mine worked for one of these companies near Peterborough, mainly on prestige vehicles, rectification work made up the majority of his workload0 -
The van is new. Some of the panels are even newer.0

Back in the 80s, I visited Skoda's UK importer in Kings Lynn. They had their own bodyshop on site for transport damage - which was far from rare on all those Estelles which'd already crossed the Iron Curtain...
You could tell at a glance which panels had been repaired. The paint was a lot better than the other panels. Shinier, with a lot less orange peel.0
