(I rarely reply to IvanOpinions posts, as I often feel that I'm simply feeding a troll, however on this occassion I'll give him the benefit of the doubt...)If somebody that had saved me over a thousand pounds asked me to buy "a fart in a can" from them for 50p, then Yes I would and without any hesitation. My debt of gratitude is worth far more than that.Of course I wouldn't say fart in a can was wonderful, or at least I wouldn't be able to say it with any degree of sincerity. I don't think the song is wonderful either - it's catchy, important and a bit of fun, but not "wonderful".
PS: if you want to hear what a proper song sounds like ... one that deserves to be at the top of the charts try looking up 'Leona Lewis Snow Patrol Run' on youtube .. good music, good lyrics, good singing, good production .. sadly all these atributes are missing from this song.
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
Will definitely buy this track (as soon as I top up my mobile)!!
Martin and others on this site I owe a great big
THANK YOU :kisses:
Due to your advice I've claimed back over £3900 from Beneficial and cleared my debt to them! Hamilton insurance who supplied the loan PPI stopped paying and only when we asked for copies of agreements etc they admitted they had been underpaying £60 p/month for 5YEARS!! :j Further to this they said that cleared most of the debt leaving only £218. I copied the template letters on this site and "suggested" that most of this was interest & charges due to their error and yesterday got a letter apologising and stating the whole balance was cleared!!
I will be totally debt free in 1 year thanks to you guys!!
It's going to be great........:rudolf: :xmassmile :snow_laugshell37 xx0 -
there have been a few comments on here saying it's not good enough to get to number 1 blah blah blah. So are you saying that songs like 'The birdie song' (OK only reached no.2) and 'The Chicken Song' and even more recent the 'Crazy Frog' to name just a few where much better?0

I know it happens but overt manipulation such as this of a track that would otherwise not get into the top 100 is ridiculous. While Martin may get no monetary benefit from it one does have to question the value of the publicity that he relies on? Don't get me wrong, I am not anti-Martin or anything like that .. I just do not think that he needs to stoop to such levels to get his message across .. and if anything, in my opinion, it has turned a serious matter into a bit of a joke.
I am afraid that you are indeed completely right - it is indeed thoroughly awful and an embarrassment.
Apart from anything else, the unintentional error and irony of the new lyrics is that if you follow the theme of the original tune - "I fought the law and the law won", then the new version would sound better as "I fought the Lloyds and the Lloyds won." :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

BTW Ivan - can I just say respectfully that the above post was perhaps a little unwise? Knowing the sort of, shall we say, "ardent fans" that frequent the site, I fear that the good staffers at MSE Towers may be now inundated with requests for that particular download???

I am an Essex Girl living in Snowy Austria and here banking isn't free at all! We have to pay for the privilege of putting our money into a bank account, pay for the privilege of having a bank card with a pin no. in order to use an ATM ... I was astounded at this. My partner was astounded that we DON'T have to pay for the right for a bank to look after our money.
I haven't discovered the bank charges should I go overdrawn but my partner tells me these are minimal. I'll let you know.
Equally we still have to pay for credit cards here - something phased out in England several years back by most lenders eh!
We all complain about England but in many ways we're very lucky ... the grass ALWAYS appears greener on the other side!MSE_Martin wrote: »This thread is to discuss the
Please text Bankers to 82822 costing 50p to get this to the top of the agenda by getting it to the top of the charts0 -
New to the site and think it's great,
I've sent my text.

BUT, I have saved a fortune thanks to this site, my phone bill is about £15 less a month, I'm getting about £300 year back on my credit card, and that's not to mention all the bargains I've picked up from the Grabbit and Argos boards.
For that reason, and not because I like the song or otherwise, I've sent a text. This is not about how good the song is, it's a vehicle which will make people aware of the undercurrent of anger people are feeling at the ways the banks are treating them.
It's also a great way to make kids financially aware, and set them in the right mindset as they get older i.e. don't just accept charges levied by companies and banks as fair.
Cheers

When is the song available for us to download?0

The banks will never lose the "fight".
All this money paid back to claimants will just be re-printed and loaned to everybody with even more interest attached...0
