  • Haha brilliant, text sent!! I've reclaimed almost £1K in bank charges so 50p to get this to No 1 is the least I can do! Thanks Martin for such a fantastic site!

Musically poor and lacking in humour or cleverness. As for raising publicity about bank charges it's about six months too late so pretty pointless IMO

As for six months too late, are you kidding?! Come January there is going to be, maybe one of the biggest test cases ever to decide once and for all whether bank charges are unlawful. I think it's the perfect time to put pressure on the banks and big wigs.
  • Excellent as usual Martin. This is a great song, with a great Message. Let's get it to No.1 and watch all the red faces. Would they dare ban it!!!

    Oh dear.

You should have consulted my friends Simone Cawall, Louise Wolch and Darren Ozborn.

    Simone says:

"To be perfectly honest it is the worst song I have ever heard. It's not good enough for the competition."

    Louise says:

"It's the wrong choice of song, it's not good enough for the competition."

    Darren says:

"Oh I don't know what to say.....".

Or you could have consulted the MSE X Factor Xperts.

I won't be buying it as I can think of many more ways I would prefer to spend 50p, especially knowing it's going for copyright etc.

But Good Luck anyway and I have told the MSE X Factor Xperts about this thread. :o

Yes, too late. All cases are on hold so there's no point raising awareness of claiming now. Bank charges have already hit their peak of publicity and anyone that will claim will either have claimed already or at least already know about it. What's the point in raising awareness just as the test case starts when it'll be in the news anyway and may take months, probably longer. By the time any decision is made this song will be long forgotten about. And by which point the banks will have won making claims invalid, or lost and it will be near impossible not to know about it.

Actually Martin's article says If enough people do, it’ll be at number 1 for the week of the big OFT test case.

and the case isnt going to last that long, so hopefully it won't be forgotten about!

    To JDPower, Abu5e and Fran...

In how many ways has Martin's advice and Martin's website helped you?
How much money have you saved thanks to Martin?

It's not about the quality of the music and it's not about where the 50p will end up. The fact is that Martin has asked for your help, but you say no.

and Fran, as a board guide, surely you should be setting a good example to the rest of us?

    Hi puddings,

Martin has presented us with a product and I don't want to pay for its production in this case. As a musician, it is about the quality of any music I would buy and the lyrics aren't good enough to impress me.

There are plenty of 'charitable causes' that would like to relieve us of cash and whether or not they have helped us personally we make decisions all the time how we spend our money. It is partly the blinkered 'Martin asks so we follow' view that will get plenty of people buying this product and contributing to Sony's riches and the career of the band. Good luck to them all.... but not with my cash!

Re being a board guide, it is a voluntary post (plenty of 50p's worth of work being given away there!) and fortunately Martin allows us to have opinions as ourselves too.

    Folks

No one has to buy the song but I hope they do. The issue of bank charges is a political one; over a million people have done it yet those sitting on the green benches of westminster don't comment. The FSA says its consulted consumer groups - but I'd love to know who they are? Certianly not us, the CAG or penalty charges.

The aim of this single is to be high in the charts in the week of the bank charges court case. Just to say that's perfectly feasible; we've a couple of months to get the sales there in these downloads.

No one has to buy this song. Yet it is a way of supporting the bank charges case. To those who say "the publicity has ended and everyone who's going to do it have done". That certainly isn't true; there are millions eligible to reclaim and hundreds of thousands with cases on hold.

The OFT case is the first step; yet at the same time the waiver review will be important then. The banks do their lobbying behind closed doors; we're not invited in. There's been a petition, a mass movement, millions involved and now a protest song.

The message in the song is fun, but important. One of the main messages of this site is that the bank isn't your friend; we can no longer trust it; it's their to make money and flog us things not to look after our cash. Of course its a tool we should use, but learning some scepticism is important.

This is the message of the teen cash class guide and the song helps do that.

I know some won't agree with me; and I have to accept that. This site is about helping people's finances; saving people money, and campaigning on things that will help consumers.

You can pick and choose what you take from it; yet ultimately the choice of what it supports is mine; and I have to go with what I believe in. IN some cases users will choose to leave because of that; and others I hope will arrive.

Thank you to all who've bought the song; that's great.

To those who haven't that's cool. It's your choice to support it or not, I will continue to do my best to persuade you though :)
