Why is dealer being awkward about vehicle collection?

I bought a new BMW X4 yesterday, the salesman said I could collect "next week".

I'm only free on Thursday, but the salesman has said that's not possible as he's off on Thursday, so is now suggesting the following week. I want my car! Why would the salesman be so adamant he has to be there when I collect the car?

I suspect if some other salesman completes the purchase they might lose out on commission?

Anyone can do the handover. Ask for the sales manager.

He's not being awkward, your his customer and he simply wants to do the handover with you personally.

Some dealers have model specialists, perhaps he's the "X" specialist.

But you are the customer so you choose, if he won't budge speak to the manager as said above.

Would it not be better to leave it to the following week anyway, as then it can be taxed from the start of the following month (plus a week) rather than the start of the current month? Or have I been hiding under a rock for the last 3 years and that doesn’t work anymore?
