  • Hi.
My son Seb is 18 and just passed his driving test.As young drivers know especially males, that your going to be paying around £1500 for your insurance.
I have found a new scheme which puts a curfew on young drivers between the hrs of 11pm & 5am that dramatically cuts the cost of car insurance by nearly 40%,,,yes 40%. Sebs insurance is £930 a year.
The insurers put a tag on your car to make sure you do not use it.If you do they charge you a penalty of £25.
For more info go here,,,,well i cannot give you the info as I'm a new member,,,,,,how stupid:mad:

You can put the company name in so people can google it.

The only problem with these schemes is it is unusual for an 18 year old male to not use his car at night time at the weekend, so if your son did use his car after 11pm every other weekend he will end up paying the same as he would have without the tag, if he uses it any more he will end up paying more.

It's a good way though to reduce the amount of times they use it at night as this is an incredibly dangerous time for young males to drive

Is it possible to name the company please, I need to get my sons insurance quotes down. Thanks.
  • I'm starting to wonder if Insurance companies are starting to get wise to some of the things posted in Martin's article?

I usually shop around to get the best deal on insurance but this year I've noticed a difference. As soon as I've got a quote from an insurer, I'm immediately getting a phone call from the insurer asking if I'd like to talk to someone to 'improve' the quote or purchase then and there.

I suspect this is obviously a ploy to stop people getting money from cashback sites and it's probably best to ignore phone numbers you don't recognise during the period your looking for insurance and purchasing it.

(I've had 15 calls this weekend, 10 saturday, 5 sunday)

  • Is there a site where I can put in my details once and search a few comparison sites for car insurance?

Doing the same forms 3-4 times is just so tedious. I can't believe this doesnt exist. I have clicked on google links and each site that said it would is lying.

If your looking for cheeper car insurance STAY AWAY from AUTO NET i had my insurance from them for a year then canceld it 4 months ago.
went to my bank today and guess what? it was empty due to the fact that autonet had took over £450 out using my card details that i gace them back in 2008 and by the way this was not a direct debit they took it as a visa payment. phoned auto net up they said nothing they can do, promised a call back within the hour from a manager but 2 days and 4 emails later no reply so i am now opening a fraud discussion with my bank

STAY AWAY FROM THEM THEY ARE ROBBING B$£%£RDS:confused:
Not had a problems with them taking money but they haven't fulfilled their promise of a fiver if they can't beat your quote - anyone else had this problem with AUTONET INSURANCE - I've been waiting since July 09 and have phoned twice to chase - I know it's only a fiver but it's the principle.
  • Hi, I recently finished working for a small insurance broker. We used various comparison sites in order to drum up trade. However we would automatically present the customer with a price that we knew full well we could not hounour. As we had no "buy it now" option online the customer was forced to call us direct thus presenting a sales opportunity. This process was in place purely to drive incoming calls. When we confirmed the details we would then adivse the customer that various details have been changed and we would give them a new and accurate higher price. My question is are the company breaking the law by falsly advertising a price that they simply cant honour? If so would the FSA take steps to correct this process if informed? I am worried that i would be personally liable for polices i may have sold in the past?

They are breaking the Unfair Business Practices Laws by offering a price they cannot provide and also acting against the general ethos of theUFP law.

They are also breaching the FSA treating customers fairly regulations.

You can inform the FSA annoymously on this email whistle@fsa.gov.uk

    http://www.fsa.gov.uk/Pages/Doing/Contact/Whistle/index.shtml

Please take the time to report this as it if grossly unfair on customers and should be dealt with
