i used xxxx.com as it choose the companys to bring quotes back.........

All your posts so far since joining MSE are spam posts cynically recommending different departments of this website.

You forgot that in your other post it was your friend who put you on to this same great site to recycle your phone, and now say you learned about it from reading your paper. Which version is true? (Neither - presumably you made up both the stories)

It's a 6 year old diesel SEAT hatchback. I've not moved address or had any accidents or convictions or claims or anything. Haven't changed jobs or circumstances. I have 8 years NCB.

How the HELL can it go up nearly £200 ?????

As stated above, I can well understand why there are so many uninsured cars on the road. It's daylight robbery!
mine has almost doubled - last year I paid £362, the best quote I can find is £642 - how can that be...

it is the same car, have another year of NCB and am a year older - why are my renewal quotes almost double from last year..
  • I am so angry today! My car insurance is due for renewal in September, and instead of going down each year it just seems to go up!!

I've had a licence for 5 years, 4 as a full, and the full 5 no claims. My husband is on insurance as 2nd driver and he's also no claims.

I've done a comparison and I'm paying around £300 more simply for having a Liverpool postcode! I'm paying more now, with the car being secured in a driveway, than I used to pay when I lived in Wigan - where the car was parked on the road. It makes no sense to me and in my view this is like stealing. I know everybody will say that I live in a high risk area, but doesn't my 'no claims' stand for anything?

My insurance last year at the same address was £389. Now from the same insurer its £649. From all the comparison websites, the best I can get it down to is £657. Will I continue to pay outlandish prices or do I have to move to get a better deal!?

    SNAP!!!!

I am furious to say the least!!! Last year I paid under £400 and this year I can't get ANYTHING cheaper than £700

Its out of order.... i too live in liverpool and i thought crime had go down!!

does anyone know of anyway i can get a cheaper quote... i am not going to change to 3rd party (not that it makes much difference) but paying double what i paid last year is just crazy....

rrooooaarrrr!! sooo annoyed.... any suggestions from anyone??

Well i can now understand why there are so many uninsured drivers driving round!! They bump insurance premiums up on the honest people who actually abide by the law and buy car insurance but surely by doing this they are only encouraging other people to think twice about actually insuring their vehicles when the premiums are the extortionate rate they are now!! My insurance this year at this rate (after checking 3 different comparison websites) is still going to cost more than the car is actually worth!!!!!

I cannot believe the quote that I have just got for my 19 year old daughter! It was bad enough in her first year the cheapest quote we got for her was £1746 for the year TPFT only. This year on a comparison website I have been quoted £89044.27p for a 3 door corsa worth approx £3000! She has no claims or convictions etc. This is not a mistake, I checked. Insurances are a law unto themselves, they make up these quotes as they go along. I believe its time insurance companies were regulated on how the quotes are made up and should be more transparent. We are asked to be honest and open about our details why can't they be?
I realise she has a choice not to choose this quote but can anyone tell me what warranted this price from Vauxhalls Insure.

i would like to know if any females out there managed to get under £700 insurance for their 1st year of full licence?

I am 21 and have had 7 months of provisional insurance with no claims, and with adding my dad who has been driving for over 30 years with no claims this is the best I can find. I only paid £486 (for 12 months) when I was learning! Would like to know about any added cashback too, as the companies currently cheapest for me don't seem to have any...
  • Hi,

Could somebody please tell me how to get cheap car insurance for drivers with DR 10 conviction?

    Many thanks.

Hi - long story here - sorry in advance!

For the last 8 years my Dad and I have shared ownership of a car and the insurance, I'm the keeper and the insurance is in my name with my Dad as named driver. I used the car at the weekend and Dad used the car during the week.
Now I've changed my job and my Dad naturally is looking at a small car for himself, a Peugeot 206.
The problem is all the insurance companies, including my own, Aviva, are saying that my Dad has 0 years in terms of no claims and all the insurance quotes for my Dad to insure fully comprehensive are coming up just short of £1,000! My Dad has never had an accident, no criminal convictions, the car is going to cost £4000.
I've tried using the husband and wife analogy to Aviva and it only brought the price down by £15!
Any and all (sensible and legal) ideas greatfully appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    David
