Revolut metal is it worth it?

I've got a lot of foreign travel planned, I have some 0% fee when using the card abroad cards but as a debit card/cash withdraw card, with its higher limits is the Revout Metal card worth it?
My partner has one for getting access to his UK funds. but I won't be using the bank account function and topping up using a card.
I'm wondering if the metal version is advantageous over the basic version?
I won't touch starling due to a bad experience with them, where they told me the cost in app but changed the rate the day after and its only ok for EU purchases but the revolut card seems an all round card.

I wouldn’t no.
Starling would be my suggestion, despite your supposed beef with them.
Failing that Monzo.0 -

I purchased something in dollars. The app notified me it was going to it was going to £35.03. I checked the app a few days after they said the transaction was £35.18 (15p I know but I took a screenshot of the notification for my records and its a point of principle!)
I contacted the in-app support who said "Yeah we can change the exchange rate as we see fit, we have to cover ourselves" then proceeded to say they've done nothing wrong the in app notification is not to be considered the exact amount charged and they reserve the right to change the exchange rate.
However as a gesture of good will they will send me a pair of socks.
I have a Monzo account, I found their cards working hit and miss last time I was in Singapore. However I have it as a just in case as theyve done no wrong!0 -
Metal doesn’t offer much over the premium account other than the nice metal card...
...which is what swung it for me. I’m pretty happy with it.0 -

Revolut works in a different way, if you prefer it and think the metal card service is suitable, go for it. But make sure you understand well how it works, and don't rely on it without other cards available when traveling.Evolution, not revolution0 -
This is nonsense, the provisional exchange rate given at the time of transaction is updated on the day of settlement, a couple of days or so later, for any MasterCard or Visa card, always. So Starling did nothing wrong at all. Also Starling have the same provisions for purchases and withdrawals worldwide, not just in Europe.

How come other card providers, such as (from my understanding) revolut, when I've used my Santander card all give the same rate as the ring fenced amount.
Its only Starling that seems to do this.0 -

Halifax do the same as Starling. The pending amount is at the exchange rate at that time, but the final amount is at the exchange rate when they actually take the money. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.0 -
As I said, Revolut works in a different way. MasterCard and Visa credit cards all take a couple of days or so for settlement, when the rate is finalised. Starling and Monzo are the same. Perhaps some other bank debit cards stick to the initial rate on the day of transaction, they charge enough fees to cover fluctuations and I never use them overseas so I can't say for sure.Evolution, not revolution0
