No - though it may well impact on the journey over High Peak on Sunday.

Been out today - to Wentworth Gardens near Barnsley. Lovely (and dry) day.

[Creeps back in] Evening all

At the beginning of last week I decided to take the Flylady thread off my main computer, together with BBC news and Facebook, because I felt that I wasn't concentrating properly on work - I thought I could keep in touch on my K!ndle - but it didn't work out and I have been miserable without you all, so I have now reinstated the thread and caught up with your posts :D

This week I have lost about 2 hours flying time each day to feeding DS1's family's guinea pigs and chickens and taking Rosie for a walk up the big hill behind their house, but I have enjoyed it. Yesterday I even stopped at the cafe for a bacon, egg, sausage and tomato sandwich for my lunch, which was a great treat. Rosie shared the sausage!

However, I have made some progress with outstanding jobs, and my daily list of desk work is gradually getting shorter. It has taken me 3 days to put together a photo book of my new goddaughter's baptism, and I breathed a sigh of relief when I finally placed the order this evening. I have kept the house tidy all week and cleaned thoroughly all through downstairs and in the bathroom. The downpours that followed the heatwave have got the grass and borders growing again, so outside is a mess, but one day I *will* get out and cut everything back properly.

Thankfully, DH is feeling a lot better and taking himself out nearly every day. That makes us both a lot happier.

Round, you are doing really well atm :T:T:T
Badcat18, I hope your moggy is home soon.
Honey Bear and Jojo, enjoy your new washing machines - but boo to leaking pipes chez Jojo!

Just time now to catch up with some TV before DH comes in from his war games. See you all tomorrow.
  • Morning all,

Second week of the school holidays drawing to a close already, it goes way too fast! We have had a few days away so I have a lot to do today. Personal list for today looks something like this:

    - hang washing out once WM has finished doing its thing
    - go to sorting office to collect a parcel
    - print a load of invoices for DH business
    - do two hours work for DH
    - start the VAT
    - go to the bottle bank
    - post some eBay parcels
    - send a return to ASDA
    - keep the children entertained throughout all of the above

Wish me luck! Shower time first xx

Morning all. Hope you're all ok.

I'm now off work for 3 weeks. Today's plans look something like this.

    Get dressed
    Have breakfast
    Wash up
    Sweep hard floors downstairs.
Pick up meds from vet, combine with dog walk.
    Knitting
    Admin
    Gardening interspersed with house work.

    Have a great day everyone.

    Morning all

    Today's list:
    - Keep an eye on the grey clouds - I've still got towels and trousers drying on the line from yesterday (didn't put them out until 6 pm)
    - sort and file bags and papers
    - order some bits for church
    - do the office hour (i.e. deal with enquiries) in church from 10.00
    - do a smallish food shop
    - quick visit to feed the guinea pigs and hens
    - mow the lawn
    - tidy the veg plot: prune back nasturtiums which have gone wild with delight at the hot/wet weather, pick beans, cut sweet peas :)
    - re-pot my orchids
    - take Rosie for a walk in the woods
    - deal with some more bitty office things this evening

DH is going to play Robin Hood this afternoon (i.e. go to archery).

Right, let's see if I can find the floor in the study before DH has finished getting breakfast...

(((Hugs))) spoons and sticks all round, as needed x

    Morning all

The cat is home!! Although we are currently feeding by tube and he has to be in a cage with a collar on, he’s not very happy about it all but health wise he is much improved. Thank you for all of your good wishes, I’m sure they helped. Today’s plan for me...

    Feed cat every 3 hours
    Washing (first load on)
    Change bedding
Scrub newly painted bathroom, put everything back after sorting out all the toiletries
    Food shop (list is ready)
    Vac and dust whole house
    Clean kitchen
    Scrub en-suite
Go out for a walk or a swim this afternoon
    Garden tidy
    Mow lawn
    Empty and wash bins
    Empty and wash litter trays

DH will help out with some of that so it should be doable. I’m sure there might be some other stuff too but I don’t want to overload myself. It’s been quite a week this week and I’m feeling a little fragile myself.

Back later, have a lovely day all x

Dailies done. Rubbish and recycling out. Washing on line. Dogs walked via vet. Knitting done. Plants in greenhouse watered. Food prepped for dogs later. Admin next - I need to completely rejig our finances if I'm to stay part time.

    Morning

yayy, ionafan and asb are back :hello:

Hope Lamewolf and YorkshireLass are ok.

ionafan - a while ago I carried out an exercise listing What I am working on / What I should be working on / what I would like to work on. This identified regarding laptop use : flylady = KEEP (for me it's vital and it matters); facebook = keep, but ration time spent on it (it's not vital but it matters to me as a means of staying in contact with family and friends); solitaire/ mah jong/ tetris = DISTRACTION, not vital, doesn't matter. therefore taking up valuable time which can be used to do something I would like to work on or should work on ie Hovel to Haven. Hope that makes sense. I'd be lost without my flylady friends :iloveyou:

Flying: I'm washed and dressed; bed is made; fed the birds; first WM load is pegged out and second load has just finished swishing -that's the second flannelette sheet that I unearthed washed :D

On 1st August I started to track the water I drink (not enough), the food I eat (too much + a lot of junk), my Bible reading, and writing things down instead of trying to remember. :T

So, after pegging out the washing, I'm going to complete an online shop - using money off vouchers :money: then research honeysuckle blight :(
    Take care

Admin done, finances rejigged (had to halve emergency fund so hope nothing drastic happens!), printing done, emails sent. Just have a couple of phone calls to do that can't happen till Monday, and a chat with DH later about his overspending!

Going to have lunch now, then spend a little time in the garden. Am trying to get horrid jobs out of the way (need to clean car) early in my holiday so I'll enjoy the rest of it and not be thinking too much about what I still need to do.

    That's the plan anyway.

  • Yee-ha. The thermostatic valve on the shower mixer/tap contraption on the bath has spontaneously failed, so if you turn it on cold, Luke warm, warm, whatever, it chucks out scalding hot water.

So another plumbing repair to report and await replacement.

I wonder whether this is all related to Thames water ungrading the main to provide water to the new mini housing estate (I refuse to call them mews as the developers have) that's next door? The water pressure shot up so high after that happened, that any bodge job would have trouble.

Anyhow, I slept in until 11.30am this morning and need to get myself sorted.

Himself is fannying about with the retake for the first unit of the qualification (he registered for the same one as me). I passed the first straight away, but he's had a bunch back to redo. Fortunately, despite my laptop charger dying and needing replacement, I could use his laptop to finish the second unit and submit it yesterday.

I am definitely not doing another course with them, as this was ridiculous - I've already got GCSEs and A Levels in related subjects and although it was supposed to be equal to those, it was more a test of endurance and tolerance of poor writing than anything usable.

    Anyhow - tea!
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.
