This sounds like a problem with the sort code table your bank is using, or you may have mis-typed the sort code.
Make a test payment of £1, and if this arrives ok in your Marcus account, all is well. A £1 test payment is generally a good idea before transferring larger amounts.
  • I did that before I transferred a larger amount. Better safe than sorry.

All good from me too ...opened last summer with a lump sum and have made a couple of withdrawals subsequently which appeared in my current a/c in a minute or so.

In opened up one of these Marcus accounts earlier today, but can find no reference to the bonus period - have they done away with the year's bonus now, and the rate advertised is the rate you get (but variable)?
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

Yes, they dispensed with the bonus for new accounts last year: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2019/12/marcus-account-savings-rate-cut-to-1-35----what-you-need-to-know/

I regret to say that my recent experience with opening and operating a new account has been far from satisfactory, with issues from the very beginning which should never have arisen and have taken numerous phone calls and other action to (eventually) put right.   There are certainly some dodgy systems at Marcus, with the customer having to initiate and take whatever remedial action is needed to put right what Marcus has done badly (or plain wrongly).   It may not happen to you - but be aware of the downside if it does.   But for the (currently) 'attractive' interest rate of 1.3% I would have jumped ship at the first let-down.

I must add my agreement to the vast majority of other posters on this site-----Marcus are REALLY good. I have easy access and several longer term accounts. I have a feeling Marcus will stay in the top 10 of high interest savers for some time. It is a real pity that it looks like the parent company, Goldman Sachs, is likely to cut back on its Marcus business in UK because of US ringfencing rules.

I think they are OUTSTANDINGLY good. Transfer money to my Nationwide account and it's there before I have a chance to login.  Currently getting 1.45% on my instant access account but that expires in July so have moved £40K into the one year fixed rate saver at the same rate.  Happy (easter) bunny!

    Hi all,
If i opened a Marcus account, do they need any forms to fill in or verify anything by post or receive anything via post before I am up and running? or is it just setup in a few minutes and ready to go?
I recently opened a Coventry RS and it was all setup online BUT i needed to wait for the login ID & grid card before i could access the account, they didn't need any ID verification so i presume whatever checks they did, it was all ok.
    Thanks
    Kev
