    Hello there,

I don't know when I last checked in but wowee have things changed! It's looking very good for you. Well done at focusing.

For your son it depends what you want. You can do a monthly direct debit to buy him premium bonds at £25 a month. You won't receive any interest but you can win the prizes and you can cash the money back out. You could open a savings account at a high street bank. There are also investments you can do for your children. Think what you want from it. Ease of putting it in, high returns, easy to withdraw... it's up to you. At this point I would start after Christmas.

The help to buy isa is ending soon. If you have one you still get 10 years to use it. I'm not sure if they are better than lisas but get cracking if you want one.

    Keep going! Xxx

Thank you for the advice Kitten868, nice to see you again! x

  • Happy Friday all!

So tomorrow is the Legoland trip. I brought all the tickets and parking through TCB last month using ebay money, so all set. The fuel is within my budget as i saved the 3 days at the start of the week, and im heading off to Aldi to get packed lunch bits so hopefully no further spends needed!

Last night i did an inventory and meal plan of the freezer and stocks. Still over run with meat, from the delivery 6 + weeks back, so plenty to eat, will just need a bit of fresh and the packed lunch bits and im done. Should be approx £30 according to my estimates.

So as you know after paying the loan, to last me until pay day i only had 2 pots of money left. My food budget and My Fuel budget. Also xmas but not counting that! I still have £40 left in my fuel, and after today about £15 in my food. Payday is 11 days away, you guys are right, i think i can do it! Going to be another frugal month next month as im determined to pay off another 2 debts and Im happy with that, as far as im concerned, all this frugal living is so worth it to work on financial freedom!!!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend, wish me luck on my low spend weekend xx

You can do this :) Just don’t go in the shop at legoland. Extortionate prices even if you weren’t going on a budget. I am sure you and your son will have a fantastic time. Good luck on not overspending on your pots. 11 days will soon go and this very tight budget will only be for a few more months then if you want to you can increase the pots a bit.

haha you are so right, i know i will have a lot of 'i wants' at the shop. To be honest, i think he will be so pleased with the day and all his favorite food etc, I dont think he will be too bad (I hope!). Im taking him with one of his friends so even more exciting (everyone thinks im mad! haha)

You are right about the pots. I dont really feel like ive gone without too much, although it would be nice to celebrate debt freedom with a budgeted pub lunch with the girls!

  • We're going there the end of November for a Christmas/Santa day with discounted tickets bought through work. It's a lovely day out, enjoy! Agreed, don't set foot inside the shop, hyper inflated prices

How are you getting on at the moment?

I'm doing good, thank you :)

You're doing great! Just be careful going from one financially tight month straight into another. It's hard going. I love your determination though.

  • Good Morning

So im back in the office after a long weekend, i wish my son slept past 5am, its so draining! doesnt matter what time he goes to sleep, hes up at the crack of dawn. Ive had a word with him today to say at weekends he really needs to try and not wake me up quite so early and that he can watch a program for an hour rather than screaming my name. Not sure its going to work, but have to try something im just exhausted!

Legoland was a great trip, however, the queues were just awful! Now i know why people pay extra for the queue jump! I didn't spend a penny though so was really pleased with myself for that.

Been a low spend weekend really, picked up a bottle of wine yesterday to take to my aunties for lunch but apart from that no spends.

Bank is looking very sorry for itself. I still have £40 in the pot for food, and £9.90 for food. I do have an extra £20 from ebay sales, but im really trying to avoid using that as i need to find the extra for my grand plan of paying off CC3 and Paypal.

8 days and counting until pay day, its going to be a real push to make it, but im determined - may just have to have a few days of spaghetti hoops on toast!

Well done on not succumbing to the Legoland shop.

Do you have a Gro clock for your son? My eldest DGD is an early riser but my DD and SIL got a groclock and she is not allowed to wake them until the sun is up on it which is 7 o clock. Obviously that does not apply if she is ill though. DGD2 is a stay in bed type so don't think they will have the same issues with her. She loves her cot.

  • Hi ES I hope you had a nice weekend!

I dont have one, although i nearly brought one for him when he was a toddler as ive only ever heard raving reviews when sleep training. My son does have a watch and can tell the time, its more just the fact that when he wakes up he wants me to be up too! hes always been quite an anxious sleeper, hated sleeping alone etc. Although we are passed that stage he still needs to know im there etc all the time!
