Thats amazing, you should be so proud of yourself. Ramble away, what an inspirational story. Did you stay a single mum for the duration? ive become so hard faced due to the forced independence and constant battles, i cant imagine every being in a partnership again. I started dating recently but ive already noticed how hard it is debt busting with suggested trips away, going out and events etc. Im only 32, i feel like i should still make an effort to have the marriage and family set up :rotfl:

I had a "relationship" (I use the term quite loosely) between 2008 and 2012 but other than that I was single from 2002-2008 and 2012-2017. My finances were my own and it was always just Little Miss and I in our home. I just gave up everything to try to hold it all together. I was happy being single. I started dating my lovely boyfriend at the end of 2017. We've been friends for about 25 years but only got together then. Separate finances and separate houses (for now). I sometimes wake up in a cold sweat thinking about joint finances :rotfl: I've done it on my own for so long I'm a total control freak. He was married to someone who controlled the finances and made a complete mess of them so he's happy doing his own thing too at the moment. I'm 42 and the thought of marriage fills me with terror haha.
    Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000
    Mortgage today = £161,690.76
    300 271 payments to go.
    House buyout fund £21,000/£40,000

  • That's great news. What an achievement getting rid of it so quickly and saving yourself so much interest. Sounds like you have the next few months all planned out, without even needing your advisers and you never know what is round the corner that might get you to that debt free position sooner than you think. What a great feeling that will be to be saving instead of clearing debt.
  • Hooray for the loan being gone! I was lurking along and willing you on to pay it off :D
  • Yey :j  :T
    Debt free Feb 2021 🎉
  • Well done on paying off the loan and almost 40% of your debt is gone in only 2 months. I know you had the flight compensation to help you but still it is a massive achievement. If you can sustain this sort of financial discipline you will be well on the way to being DF and saving for your house deposit. Stay strong over the next 2-3 weeks and keep in budget. On to CC3 next. You have done brilliantly.

  • What a lovely range of messages to be greeted with this morning! Thank you all!

I spent last night signing up for mystery shops, £39 potential jobs waiting for today. Also got a bid on one of my ebay items (7 listed) and im up to £10.50 on the surveys. So my strategy for the next 19 days is to do as much as possible to raise some extra money. Ive got a target of trying to clear CC3 by additional funds ive made, ive got £116 waiting to be paid out of TCB so actually is doable.

Im on to my 3rd NSD, which im pleased with, next week my aim is 4!

oh ironically, i got offered another credit card raise yesterday - no wonder people spiral into debt ey!!!

Have an amazing day every one xx

  • Amazing, well done!! :T
And it'll be great to pay 2 more cards off before Christmas too, always seems 'neater' when there's only one debt to concentrate on :D
