Where to live in Bradford?

  • Having read that the OP likes where they are in Bristol,it doesn't seem the most natural fit.

I've heard North Street in Bristol called many things but never a lovely little community with heritage buildings.

Out of interest what is the approx. cost the daily commute from some of these smaller towns into Bradford by train...southern prices and a journey of 30 mins would run into the thousands if that commute were for example from Bristol to Cheltenham which I'm guessing is a similar journey time wise.

From Saltaire or Bingley, £50 a month. From Ilkley (end of the line), £100 a month.

The OP still hasn't come back to give us more information. We can all talk up what we consider good/bad areas to live in.
So OP help us out here what do want, need, desire?

Restaurants, bars, coffee shops, gyms, yoga studios, clubs for people in their mid 20’s-early 30s that don’t just revolve around drinking, close to being outdoors (love the Peak District)

This info has been really helpful. One of my friends has a friend in Guiseley so that sounds promising. I’m a bit concerned about the crash for cash statistic

There is a lot of crime in Bradford - in the actual city. You wouldn't want to socialise there. I worked in central Bradford - the level of security measures and the number of police warning emails circulated at work was really alarming. Bradford was named the most dangerous city in the UK in 2014 but it's not anymore (Birmingham, Manchester and Sheffield are more dangerous now).

On a different note, Bradford has the highest percentage of population of Pakistani ethnic origin (20%). Approximately 25% of population are Muslim.

Surely London is the most dangerous UK city. Multiple murders in just a weekend is normal

I would recommend Pudsey/Farsley/Stanningley/Bramley areas which are all in west Leeds, where you have New Pudsey and Bramley train stations nearby which are both on the route to Bradford.

I personally live in Bramley near the train station and find it great for getting into Leeds city centre (9mins on a train) or Bradford (14mins on the train). We tend to go for food/coffee in places like Farsley, Kirkstall and Burley which are all a short drive or taxi away. In regard to going drinking we would tend to go into Headingley or Leeds City Centre.

Ok. Saltaire it is then. Possibly the best of all the options that you need. Buying is well within your budget or you could rent if that suits you better. You should do an extensive search of Saltaire for the things that interest you.

    This should get you started
