Well as Tahlullah pointed out lots of thinking going on here. At the point of wanting work to fund training and therefore support my promotion or thinking can't be bothered fighting for it and i'll just leave
I don't enjoy my job. So what do i want to be when i grow up? I know in my heart what i'd love to do and will work on that but in the meantime i need to live. I need to decide if i keep going at this job and focus all i can on doing what i want the rest of the time. Or whether i apply for something completely different?! Mr Socks thinks i should just apply for some minimum wage jobs. Oh dear more thinking! Will pop round diaries soon. But now bed.1st May 2025

Hi Stripey sorry your current job doesn't yet float your boat.I'd write 1) a list of things you are looking for in your next job 2) why you want it ie which skilll is it using, what people are you with, what support do you get, what environment does it look like 3) I would see if there are any other options that meet what you want out of option 2 even if they have different job titles.
Unless you have a very healthy EF I wouldn't jump yet. Focus a while on building your EF if you feel that strongly so that you have more options... See if there are any low cost courses that would bridge any gaps you have...

Hi savings - i should have clarified and said less of a job and more self employed work for 2 options that i'd like - 3rd option would involve mucho university years - all 3 have the drawback of needing funding as well as being a risk.1st May 2025

Hello all
I'll aim to keep it brief. Family unpleasantness continues and i feel sick to my stomach with it. So much so have had to stop all extra work. it is what it is.
On the note of extra work, as i said, I left myself massively short money wise this month. 4 things contributed - stretching myself to hit the 10% mortgage. This meant l didn't leave a suitable buffer to cover unexpected spends. This would have been ok but i was then put in a position by family to spend money i did not have. I also had the unexpected bill and I also started up the shopping without a suitable float. Ho hum. Payday cannot come soon enough. Again. It is what it is.
The last week or so has been pretty rotten. On the bright side, given the ridiculous amount of things which have gone wrong in the last week, something amazing must be just about to happen to balance it all out.
I am back posting. Was frankly too miserable for my own company this week - let alone logging in and posting.
Reminder to self - I need to do what I love. I am responsible for my own happiness and i need to start prioritising me, us, and our little family. Family stuff has taken up far too much mind space / waking hours / sleeping hours. Instead of thinking about this switch off by truly focusing on what i want to do and achieve. Remember the productive time.
Mortgage freedom / moving but having a mortgage will all help to give us freedom and choices x
Hope all is well with everyone. I will try and catch up with all diaries soon x1st May 2025

HI Stripey - there seems to be a bug going around - possibly weird weather related - as a lot of diarists seem to be going through struggles currently - including moi. You need to practice self-care on you. Sorry you had unexpected bills - hope you manage to get to the end of the pay day period okay - but if you don't - give yourself some grace. Next time, you can remember to leave yourself more of a safety net...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
