  • Well the decision i made regarding the family situation was clearly not the best :( It seems there is absolutely no compromise from others and i am expected to comply with what everyone else wants regardless of the affect on me and my emotional / mental health.
The worst part is that now me and Mr Socks are arguing about it :cry::cry::cry:
Not because he doesn't agree with me but because he'd prefer an easy life and doesn't want any conflict.I'd prefer these things too - but at what cost to myself ?:cry::cry:
In typical Mr Socks fashion he refuses to talk about it any more and therefore the silent treatment reigns :(

  • Subscribed so I can follow along and stack up some money saving ideas for when we start our own diary(hopefully very soon if all goes well with getting our mortgage offer)!

Reading everyones diaries is giving me such motivation to save and overpay!

Hello Bennett  Thank you for stopping by and good luck with your mortgage offer too. The diaries are excellent for motivation I find :) Although mine seems excellent for having a good old moan at the moment :o Sorry about that. Hopefully normal service will resume soon. However, real life does happen at the same time and i'm grateful to have a space here to pop things down.

Congrats on your decision on the family. I can't offer any words of wisdom to help put it to the back of the mind. My mother always told me that the only people who can hurt you are family. Over the years, I have learned that she is right. Everyone else, you can screen out. Best of luck on dealing with this. Hopefully it will end the way you want when you want.

Hi Tahlullah and thank you for your kindness and sharing your mothers wise words x

  • Good luck with the decluttering. The YS stuff sounds like bargains although I read twice to make sure you weren't eating the cat food lol. I hope things settle down with family. I use aud1bl3 or reading to channel my thoughts and switch off. Focusing on ones about millionaires currently so that's increasing my positivity

Hehe eating the cat food - thank you for making me give a small smile savingholmes x See above re family :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: - laugh or cry situation. Unfortunately, this will not settle down. It has, however, served to open my eyes as to how these family members view me :(:(:(

  • I should really get on and do some decluttering / tidying now - especially as the atmosphere is most unpleasant and at least if i'm being productive then that is something. Although my motivation and productivity is very strongly connected to my mood. & i am worried about our relationship :(

Money matters - have tried to rearrange a shop as I wanted to go and talk to family after making the decision yesterday - hopefully that will be agreed as i still haven't heard from them yet.

Was too upset to eat tea yesterday after everything - moneysaving i guess?

Managed a survey and screened out of several more.

Right going to go and do something!

Sorry you are having a tough time. I think the best thing about being an adult is we can make decisions that benefit us without having to justify ourselves. We are entitled to say yes, no or maybe. We are entitled to change our minds. If other people don't like it that is usually about them - unless we are doing it in an obnoxious way. HTH

Thank you savingholmes xx Just popped in to say i appreciate the support - busy working - 1 final report to get in today and then bed zzzzzzz The upset of the past week or so has really affected my eating and sleeping and i'm exhausted just now but need to just do this final task and then bed before an early start tomorrow. The good things from all this upset? - i have treated everyone involved with respect and dignity despite the way i've been treated. I will protect myself better in future - from someone who has lots of barriers already :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I am re-evaluating all that is important in my life and remembering not to take anyone for granted - mainly Mr Socks as sometimes the daily not seeing each other as we head off to different shifts means when we do catch up life admin rather than quality time can take over. Despite being exhausted i have continued to treat each new encounter ? you know each interaction we have with another, however brief; with enthusiasm and the openness and willingness for a positive outcome.Right - this work won't do itself!

Still here, still working to goals, challenges to post about but these must be opportunities really x

    Hope your report went well

I like the idea in the Eat, pray, love film - when you think of someone that's annoyed you / or you owe something to - just release love and happiness over them - every time - and over time the feelings associated with that person become less intense.

  • Hello all

i have just not had the time to pop in and post - although i have been trying to keep up with diaries when i can :)

There was a bit of a further upset with family. I realise i can't 'openly' talk about it on here but suffice today i was put in a situation which cost me time and money - both of which are in short supply. This will never happen again. I actually went overdrawn :( It is a shame but i will now simply be putting my own needs first and limiting all interaction. I just wanted to let anyone know who was interested. Savings - thank you for your post.

    Money or lack of...

At the end of last month i paid the final amount i was allowed to pay to the mortgage in that 12 month period. This was a big stretch. But i thought i could cope with it. Then had the added expense as noted above. On top of this I then received an unexpected bill which had to be paid  And i have been doing the shops - which of course, you don't get money for until later and i have had to pay extra petrol for these which you don't get paid for at all. Was told i'd won a little game we play at work for £1 a week - i thought 'yes, a bit of a break and a turn around for me now' and then was told they'd made a mistake - i was  as i really did *need* the money but ho hum! :rotfl:

It is such a good thing that i am posting here and have a plan because feeling like i have a little control and that i can change my situation is really helping. Plus i'm more determined to push towards those goals so i am not feeling down about everything.

i have borrowed a bit of money to tide me over until i can get some funds back in. i had to or i would have been overdrawn and charged daily

    More plans

    So, i need a budget.

I need a budget for the shops, so i can do them.

I need a budget for matched betting so i can do this as soon as i am ready. Starting proper research this weekend.

I need a laptop or similar so i can take on other work - again, i need the money for this.

These things are being mulled over in my wee brain.

i am living in chaos and need to sort this out. I have been working so much nothing has been done. I aim to have the living room clear by the end of the weekend and then maybe the kitchen.

    Other good things

Here, and you guys obviously :D

We have food... lots and lots of food :rotfl:

i am drinking lots of water - i would have loved a glass of wine earlier  But being good :A

Despite having no money i will be joining a gym :D:rotfl: Whilst health has been on my mind a bit lately I fortunately, briefly met a lovely lady last week - she looked absolutely fantastic. She has a personal trainer and i thought that's what i want - ok i can't have the trainer but i want to be pushed and cajoled into shape - not just to lose weight but to have a stronger and a healthier body. So amidst all this chaos and busy-ness and conscious spending i'll be joining the gym. #excited

Also putting in a request for training at work, they can only say no.

I have no work this weekend so hope to post a more coherent update then :D

    Hello all

This afternoon has not been the hive of productivity i was hoping for. Got home from work and... went to bed :o I needed it and only got up so i'll hopefully sleep tonight. Still tired so not much will happen tonight but a wee list for the weekend may be in order? All in addition to the usual of checking for surveys etc

clear last 2 items (of mine) from living room. Sounds easy but they are clothes :o need trying on, a decision made and then a home found

Start on kitchen clearance :j The plan, in order

worktops all to be cleared 2 items at a time

Floor, to be cleared a bag at a time

Other jobs to intersperse the above are:

Now, i've tweaked s/s again go through and check it works and input new data now needed for each line - 1 entry at a time

Work on next payday budget - more or less have it all in my head

    Make soup

Write, write, write - 30 minutes on this - set the timer - get it done !

Homework - 30 minutes - set the timer - get it done !

    Homework 2 - 30 minutes - set the timer - get it done !

    Homework 3 - 30 minutes - set the timer - get it done !

Cook - decide on something to make with the meat i have and do it :D

    Repot plant

    Water cacti

    Washing done, dry, move

  • So i feel better for having a list :D

Bought £50 of food and drink for the coming weeks - had been given a gift card some time ago and the need to reduce cash spends meant it was put to good use here :T

Then discovered what I'd spend my last penny on - bought 2 books in charity shop :o one really struck me as one i could learn a lot from and the other i've wanted to read for years *ahem* enough justifying :o

Some lovely things today? - was lucky enough to receive a £5 voucher :D

Was able to spend gift voucher where i wanted so saving some pressure on myself and the shop had some little free items and the lovely girl on checkout told me she had a few spare and asked if i'd like them - yes please :D How nice - not sure why i was offered and not the lady in front of me - i must've seemed more in need :rotfl:

    Had a free brekkie :D

had a free lunch but was too full from brekkie so that will do for tomorrow :D

    had a free tea :D

Things will work out. I have the savings to cover the shortfall i left myself in but am loathe to access them so the shortterm borrow has had to work for now. The lovely Mr Socks offered to pay for me to go out but i told him no - it was very sweet of him to offer though x
