Been a bit slack with my diary lately
Had more meetings and whatnot with my boss about Annoying Coworker. Didn’t make a whole lot of progress but I said my piece and now I’m over it. Work has been stupidly busy. I had two days off sick last week because I came down with an awful cold/flu and could barely move except to sneeze and cough. I’m still not 100% but have to push through it as we are in a critical time at work and my boss will kill me if I take any more days off this week.
Bonus money and usual pay has hit my account. House Savings now up to $5,000. Have spent a bit of the bonus money between going to the doctor, paying for medication, purchasing a new light for my aquarium and some garden/hardware supplies. There’s still a good amount left and it’s currentky just sitting in my bank account because I’m too exhausted to even think about what to do with it.
I need to work on reducing my stress levels as I’m starting to feel really awful and it’s all getting the better of me. Thank goodness I have booked next week off. Only 3 days to go, but who’s counting.
In more upbeat news, my goldfish have had eggs and I’ve managed to get them to hatch, so now I have approximately 100 tiny baby goldfish0 -
Aw! Baby goldfish! I used to wonder how come our fish never laid eggs till they all developed gill spots so I reckon we had an entire tank of male fish.
What fun to have the babies to watch. Do you have to put them in some sort of safe space so they don't get eaten?
Work sounds full-on.Keep taking the vitamins and getting sleep, or whatever works for you. I'm glad you got a couple of days off, it's amazing how much these cold/flu type things can take it out of you. I'd still recommend the resilience course for coping with work situations, but I'm not sure you'd have time to do it.
Have a good night (I'm guessing it's late for you). We have a lovely autumn day here and I'm remembering I was flying to Melbourne this time last year. You have a wonderful country.

Hi Cherry! I have put the baby goldfish in their own tank. It is all very exciting0

Not much happening with money at the moment, but a few random things to report:
Things at work have finally calmed down, now I feel like I can breathe again.
I’m getting a couch delivered this afternoon after work. Have been wanting to get a different one for a while (as current couch is way too big for my space). My mum wanted to get rid of a couch that was in her spare room, so I’m taking that one and then passing mine along to a friend who has just moved. Am very pleased as my living room will finally look “normal” and not overcrowded. :j
Have already written myself a huge to-do list for my week off and then gave myself a big lecture about needing to slow down and not put so much pressure on myself.
Really want a new laptop, so I think I am going to buy one tomorrow after work.0 -
A new Macbook has been purchased on the way home from work :j That's my bonus money gone. Bank account has taken a hit. Feeling quite pleased though as I can now type on here properly without having to do it on my phone.
I don't have to go back to work for 9 days! Yay!
I never did update about my study situation, I have been so busy with work etc that I forgot all about it. I was not able to convince my boss to pay for it, but have been able to get the cost taken out of my bonus pre-tax, so that saved me a bit of money. My boss has agreed to give me 1 day of study leave per unit (3 units total) so I will use those days to do the recordings of my presentations  Not looking forward to doing that, but I need to have this qualification so I'll just have to deal with it.0 -
Happy New Macbook.
Shame the boss won't pay for your study but a few study days will help. Meanwhile enjoy your time off!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Thankyou Cherry , I've spent all of today doing pretty much nothing. Trying to kick this rotten cold that i seem to be holding onto
Am very much enjoying being able to look at my budget spreadsheet at home :j I used to only be able to update it at work.0 -
More ramblings as I can now type as much as I want
I need to reign the spending in, I've had my fun with the bonus money, but need to go back to being a bit more careful.
Been having a look at my budget spreadsheet. My payrise nets me approx $50 per fortnight extra, so I've allocated this to go the the House Savings.
Have just got back from grocery shopping and have spent my usual amount. I'm now going to be very careful with the grocery budget for the next couple of weeks. I'm going on 4ish days now of having no sweets and my body already feels so much better, so I'm just not going to buy junk food anymore (ha!). I have $90 in grocery store points that I am going to try and use for the next two weeks and I will save the usual amount that I would spend ($150). I think I should be able to stick to this.
Trying to be a bit more productive today.
Goals for today: (back later to edit)
-Go grocery shopping (done)
-Take item back for refund (done)
-Wash bedsheets and put them back on (done)
-Unpack & re-pack dishwasher + clean kitchen (done)
-Plant some seeds in veggie garden (done)
-Vaccum house (didn't do it, but did it the next morning)
-Clean baby goldfish tank and put them in a bigger container (done)0 -
Payday today! :j
$450 transferred into House Savings + $8.23 of the bonus money/last pay that I managed not to spend. New total is $5,458.23
Need to get myself motivated to do something productive today. I think I will work on getting the garage sorted so that I can fit my car back in there. My friend is coming to pick up the old couch tonight, so that will help.
Goals for today:
- Wash a load of clothes + hang to dry (done!)
- Water garden (didn't do it's supposed to rain soon, apparently, but i'll believe it when I see it)
-Organise garage, throw some junk out (can almost fit my car in!)
-Make a start on organising my closer, move clothes from dresser into closet (moved some stuff around, but not finished)0 -
Savings are looking good! Don't forget to check the sofa for loose change before it goes.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
